-How the chef makes the Snow Skin Mooncake-

During this Mid Autumn Festival, the Master Chef Lai Chong Seng together with Dim Sum Chef Yau Kim Yew comes with their delectable mooncake series here in Ti Chen, The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant comes with the beautiful interior design and overlooking a gorgeus view of the green golf coast ahead. It is so relaxing having my meals here with the greenies and birds churping around.

The mooncake preview kick off with the making of mooncake which is the step to step guide on how the mooncakes are made. The mooncake in Ti Chen is all handmade by the restaurant which gives us not just premium quality mooncake but the flavours comes unique too.

Making the elegant everlasting impression;Ti Chen mooncake box signifies in the way of Chinese; a simple symbol encapsulating a universe of deep meanings: tales of romance, immortality, regeneration and hope.

Epitomizing the legendry myths aligned to how the mooncake first began , Chef Yaw Kim Yew delicately crafted the mini snow skin mooncakes as to specifically represent 3 unique symbolic shapes in accordance to Chinese folklore: the heart, the oval, and the round. The “heart moocake” represent the myth of the The Old Man of the Moon (Yueh Lao Yeh) , who is said to keep a book of records with all the names of all newborns and their future partners. The oval shapped mooncake denotes the legend of the Lady of The Moon (Chang Oh) who stole and consumed an immortality pill from her husband the Great General Hou Yi. Lastly, for the “round mooncake”; alternatively symbolizes China’s revolt against Mongalian rule by sending hidden messages of conspiracy.

Not just the mooncake presented with meaningful meanings but it is packed with the elegant limited edition packing which is compete with the classy red and black gift box. The gify box come classy and beautiful and what’s more is it can be used as a wine carrier after the mooncakes had been consumed.

For the traditional mooncake, it comes with six choices of mooncake were two modern flavours and four traditional flavours to go for. For the four baked series mooncake, it comes well with the choices of Low Sugar White Lotus Mooncake, Low Sugar White Lotus Single Yolk Mooncake, Jade Custard Mooncake and Golden Mixed Nut Mooncake. And the two modern flavours are the German Black Forest Mooncake and Azuki Milk Mooncake.

ti-chen
As for me, I fall in love with the modern flavours mooncake which is the bittersweet dark chocolate German Black Forest where the blend of black forest which is creamy and heavenly with the sweet cherries with it. As for the Azuki Milk Mooncake, the taste is indeed a good one which is filled with the creamy taste and the red bean taste with it. As good as it is; the mooncake comes perfect to my favorite.
ti-chen
As for the traditional mooncakes, the sweetness is toned down and it is just at is balance to cater for the elderly or those who is health conscious.
ti-chen
For the Mini Snow Skins mooncake, it comes with three choices of mooncakes which include the Green Tea with Citrus Red Bean Mooncake, Durian Custard and Almond with Black Sesame Paste Mooncake.

ti-chen
For me, I enjoyed the Durian Custard where the durian flavours is so addictives and fragrant. Melts in the mouth with the creamy sensation.

Priced at RM 19 to RM23 each for the baked skin and RM18 to RM22 each for the snow skin, Ti Chen mooncakes are available from July 8th to September 8th 2014.
