PICNICS AND GARDENS AND ART, OH MY – ELEVATED CULINARY CONCEPTS BY LANGHAM PLACE, MONGKOK, HONG KONG

June 5, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Blending modern sophistication and contemporary luxury, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong takes breaks to a new level in the next of its series of Elevated Experiences by Langham Place.  Surprising guests’ palates with a collection of new, innovative luxury canapés and refreshers, the award-winning hotel in the heart of the city introduces concepts including Picnic, The Secret Sweet Garden, Wellness and Tokoro Oyatsu, alongside its current, stylish culinary concepts.

Ideal for corporate breakfasts and cocktails, conference and meeting breaks and party planners’ intimate soirées, the Elevated Culinary Concepts allow the hotel’s chefs to create designer canapés with flair and creativity using pretty props and exceptional ingredients to elevate the guest experience.

Picnic

For planners seeking a pleasure excursion at the hotel’s gorgeous event spaces, Picnic features baskets of light, picnic goodies including homemade breads, deli-style finger foods, quiches, salads, hams, cheeses, homemade jams and pies, together with fresh juices, iced teas, picnic blankets and tablecloths.

The Secret Sweet Garden

The romantic Secret Sweet Garden, includes white picket fences adorned with butterflies and birdcages surrounding edible flowers, honeycomb crunch cakes, yuzu bamboo charcoal macarons, éclairs, oodles of truffles, chocolate fountains and tarts, all accompanied by garden flower pots, mossy pebbles and watering tins.

Wellness
Elevating the holistic experience for the health-savvy guest, the city’s adored Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, Ming Court, collaborates with Chuan Spa, Hong Kong to launch the new Wellness themed break, featuring healthy delicacies using premium Chinese herbs and fine ingredients that stay true to Chuan Spa’s ‘Wu Xing’ (Five Elements) and TCM-focused philosophy including element teas, ginger pudding, lotus seed soup and green bean rice dumplings.

Tokoro Oyatsu

The theatre of robatayaki and the flavours of authentic Japanese cuisine come together at Tokoro Oyatsu, featuring signature maki rolls, mochi skewers, hot dishes and desserts including Hokkaido milk pudding and green tea rolls created by the hotel’s Japanese Chef de Cuisine, Manabu Oikawa.
In addition to the new line up above, Langham Place Hotel’s current repertoire of Elevated Culinary

Concepts includes:
Vintage Hong Kong
Bringing to life traditional Cantonese dim sum and Hong Kong’s old-time favourites including herbal teas and honey-glazed walnuts, barbeque pork buns, shrimp dumplings and mini egg tarts, Vintage Hong Kong is perfect for those wanting to experience the old Hong Kong without leaving the hotel and also showcases traditional cooking utensils and baskets, Chinese treasure boxes, vintage vinyls and prints, and the timeless abacus.

I Love Mongkok
The mayhem and buzz of Mongkok is also renowned for its delicious dynamism and street chic foods and culture. I Love Mongkok takes guests on a street side journey through Fa Yuen Street and Sai Yeung Choi Street where kaya toast, curried fish balls, pineapple buns and Hong Kong lai cha milk tea bring the authentic flavours of Mongkok to five-star contemporary surrounds.

Edible Art
Candied, gold foil cornets dance delicately in swirly iron frames which tower over the artistic culinary creations of Edible Art which include poppadom cones, salmon and goat’s cheese éclairs, cake pops and chocolate pavés, alongside creative material awaiting interpretations of art to be expressed upon, perhaps to join the hotel’s collection of 1,500 pieces of creative contemporary art work.

Green Chic
Embracing planet conservation and encouraging green-consciousness, Green Chic shows guests the way forward through eco-friendly canapés, homemade organic goodies and healthy eats, perfect to perk up the body, mind and soul.  Delights include Vietnamese rice paper rolls with spicy tofu and sweet dipping sauce, mini mac and cheese with Serrano ham and chicken, organic berry compote with low fat yoghurt and granola, chocolate dipped bananas with pistachio and fresh fruit juice stations.
The Elevated Culinary Concepts are available for cocktails, soirées and events for a minimum of 80 persons, with menus and pricing available upon request.

Each theme features a completely unique presentation and may be set up within any of the hotel’s sixteen contemporary event spaces including the Langham Place Ballroom, holding up to 600 people with its 23 foot high ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows and new LED coloured lighting, the naturally lit, panoramic Star Room, opening out to a glamorous, outdoor rooftop pool, holding up to 300, the cosy Shanghai and Shantung Rooms, as well as Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, Ming Court, recognised by Michelin for over six years, breezy outdoor deck The Backyard, and Tokoro – Robatayaki & Sushi Bar.
