Chiang Mai is one of the cities located in North Thailand and the city itself is one of the largest and most culturally significant city in the northern of Thailanditself. From the name itself, Chiang Mai means “New City” and it was named because it was being founded in 1296 succeding Chiang Rai capital (founded 1262) in the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. The city itself had positioned itself to become a Creative City, and is considering applying for Creative City Status with UNESCO and now Chiang Mai is one of the two most popular tourist destination in Thailand and it is also listed as “25 Best Destination in the World” as well. Being in Chiang Mai, there are so many temples to visit as well.
