August 28, 2012 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review, Invited Review Leave a Comment

The famous HK Dessert chain Hui Lau Shan are in town to serves mango lovers in town. Hui Lau Shan is one of the award winning desserts in Hong Kong and the dessert shop can be found in Hong Kong and it is a one of the “must” eats when you are in Hong Kong. Hui Lau Shan had finally make their stop in Malaysia with having the first branch in 1 Utama, and now Hui Lau Shan can be found in many major malls in Klang Valley like The Mines, Pavilion and more. Their latest outlet is in Gurney Plaza in Penang.

Left: Thai Mango   Right : Philippines mango

What so special for Hui Lau Shan? It is all about Mango and it is one of its seliing point and the signature of the outlet. The mango whih is being served in Hui Lau Shan is not local mango but they are using the mangos which are air-flown every 2 days all the way from Philipines. The mango which is being served will be a more fragrant compared to the Thai Mango.

– The Fresh Mango Mochi-

Sweet bites lovers and mango lover will be definite to fall in love with it. Once bite you will love them so much. The Mango Mochi is not sticky to my teeth but it also had a little jewel in the mochi itself. The little golden mango which had touch my heard can be tasted with the bite to the middle and with the shredded coconut covers to mango had made the overall delights even more temptating. The whole mochi brings me to the delicious creamy mango taste .

If you love a lot of delights but the portion is too big, Hui Lau Shan also cater a mini version of it so we can taste all in one time. The portion is good enough to share and in one goal you may get to try a variety of speciality of Hui Lau Shan. The variety are all in mini portion and I would say each of it is superb.

– Another View-

The feast of the delights is incredible nice. There are 3 choices which is

The mango cake is simply lovely with the crust and a layer of icy cream and chunks of mango slices in between. The desserts is amazingly done with the icy creamy mango taste and each bites of the icy wafer is simply lovely and delicious.

Next is the mango juice with chunks of mango and glutinous rice. Both combination is good where the mango are sweet and amazling done with the chewy glutinous rice. The combination is simply delighting and amazingly done where the mix of both mango and glutinous rice is well made and it is savory.

Besides the mango delights, we also had the mango which is served together with the so-called hor fan coconut as well as a scope of home-made mango ice cream is a certain to be choice. The ice cream is quite milky but each of every bites really comes with the tasty munch of fragrant mango taste. What is so earnmarked is the so-called hor fan coconut where the coconut is being processed alike hor-fan which is silky and yet with a thick coconut blend in it. With all the combination with the fragrant Philipines Mango, the dessert is really heavenly to me.

Coming up next is the dessert bu the name of Mango Romance which is also being served in a platter. Besides the mango glutinous rice with the mango syrup and mango is the same from the previous platter, both the two mini desserts is different.

The ice cream with mango and jelly is something lovely to try off. The jelly down beneath the mango ice cream and the mango is really well made. The silky not too sweet jelly is laid below and it’s good when have it combined together.

Next is the mochi. There are also a big Mango Mochi with the mango paste and mango cubes inside is making the mochi irrestible. It is served together with the slice Philipine Mango beside.

Another healthy combination which is Fresh Fruites Sweetie Balls with Double Juices. The combination of two juices with the glutinous rice is being served with a bowl of healthy fruits is also one of the options in Hui Lau Shan. The bowl of fruits -Kiwi, Mango,Honey dew, as well as Watermelon is nicely arranged and being well presented. You can mix the fruits in the desserts and have it together.

Besides, if you love some ice creams in your delights with the fruits Hui Lau Shan do have it too- Fresh fruit Icy Double Juicy. The sweet fruits is being served togtehr with the coconut ice cream and mango ice crem which creates a lovely desserts not to be missed. The coconut ice cream is also own made which is full of the santan taste and the whole combination really delighting if you are a fan of both mango and coconut.

Golden Pinky Sweetie Ball is another signature desserts in Hui Lau Shan too. The desserts is really well decorated with the pinky feel and the combination of sour strawberry together with the mango as well as glutinous rice. Aside, it is being topped with a scoop of the homemade ice cream. The desserts is something lovely to be tried of which is not sweet and the combination is really lovely and savory too.

Signature Curry Combo is Hong Kong Sspeciality is also bringing to Malaysia to serves us. The combo which is being served is the combination of cuttlefish, tofu as well as the famous fishball. They addded with the white radish as well in the portion of the Signature Curry Combo Set. The portion is not too big and it is simply flavorful with the thick aroma of curry with it.

Next is the delicious Spicy Sweet Sauce Chicken Wings. The Chicken is well marinated with the delicious Mexican sauce which is simply lovely. The pair of chicken wings is well marinated and when you take the first it turns to be slightly sweet when it is on its first bites and when you eat till the last bites it will turns to be slightly spicy.

-The Double Sweet Balls-

Double Delight Sweet Balls is one of the desserts not to be missed. The glutinous rice is well made with the finely grind peanuts with sugar and sesame. From a far, you may smell the delighting fragrant smells of the peanuts. The gliuinous rice ball is not stick between the tooth when we had them.

Not to forget some beautiful desserts are also being served too. The delights not to be missed is the Fresh Papaya with Hasmar and Coconut Milk. The desserts is served with a half papaya and at its middle will be the hasmar and the coconut milk. The desserts is really refreshing and it is a great mix with the papaya with it. It is a healthy refreshing desserts and it is not too sweet with a great combination.
Price: RM 11.90

I am falling in love with the Supreme Coconut Stewed Birds Nest with Hasmar. The sweet delights is having an option of serving hot or cold and the delights is not too sweet and it is really lovely delights to be served too.
I am loving it so much where you can smell the fragrant coconut milk when it is served on our spot. The desserts is not only delicious but it also bringing me a soothing meals not to be missed too.

Stewed papaya with White Fungus and Almonds, another sweet dessert soup which is refreshing. The ingridients covers boiling papaya, white fungus, and almond nuts which is a great option for the desserrts. The desserts can be served with the option of cold or hot. The hot soup which we had is refreshing and also a healthy option.
