NAGOMI SHABU SHABU, MENARA HAP SENG

November 7, 2011 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review, Invited Review Leave a Comment

Nagomi Shabu-Shabu is one of the Japanese restaurant that serves Shabu-Shabu, literally means ‘swish-swish’ where its name is derived from the “swish swish” sound of cooking the meat in the pot. Shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ ) is a Japanese variant of hot pot. The dish is related to sukiyaki in style, in that both use thinly sliced meat and vegetables and are usually served with dipping sauces, but it is considered to be more savory and less sweet than sukiyaki. It is considered a winter dish but is eaten year-round. Now in Nagomi, there are having a promotion of Shabu Shabu which is only limited at Menara Hap Seng.

– The Interior-

– The Private Room Sitting-

To start of, the restaurant is well designed with the contemporary Japanese style brings a modern, yet classic mood to the already cozy see atmosphere. The restaurant are well partitioned where you can they can accommodate both big and small groups of guest. They have 4 seated sit for small group and long tables and even private room to accommodate different types of crowds.

– The Clean Hot Pot with Nagomi Soup-

In Nagomi, they served Shabu Shabu where customer may experience a clean and hygienic environment to savor the offering. This is where each person has their own individual pot, allowing them to choose their own broth and customize their meal. The brooth that are provided is their signature Nagomi Soup which is clean clear soup alike what you had in soba. If you feel, you prefer other taste; they do offer other taste of soup which you can add with the kimchi taste or even garlic. This is where you can grab the sauce at the counter and mix together with the soup there.

Let me start with the food. The food are divided into few sections which includes sushi stations, vegetables, seafood, desserts and fruits.

– The Assorted Sushi: Tamago Maki and More-

– The Fresh Sushi-

– Sakana Sushi-

The sushi station comes with a few types of sushi which includes tamago maki and more. They also have assorted styles of sushi

-The Deep Fried Crab Meat-

– Tempura-

Aside, they also served fried food like fried crab meat, fried fish as well as tempura as well. We also have fried squids which they served later part of the buffet

– Seashells, Mussels, and Prawns-

– Fish, Flower Crabs, Mussels and Tiger Prawns-

– More and More Seafood-

– Fishballs, Mushrooms, and Squids-

– More Fishballs, Filament Stick, Crab Stick and Clams-

– The fresh cut fishes-

Now comes to what you can put to your shabu shabu. They serve assorted seafood which include clams, prawns, squids, seashells, mussels, scallops and more. They also serves fresh cut fish where the fish is well cut and serves fresh to customers.

We are lucky enough that day where on that day, they do have baby lobsters. And what is so nice it is live and jumping in the water. The baby lobsters are one of the seasonal items and if you are lucky that day, you can have this with your shabu shabu.

– The Variety of Vegetables-

They do serve vegetables. There are a lot of varieties of vegetables as well as mushrooms for you to choose as well. Their vegetable actually was soaked for 20 minutes in icy salt water before served in on deck. They promise that all vegetable are safe to consume.

– Duck Meat-

Aside, they do have meat to serves the customer especially on Shabu Shabu. You may have the unlimited sliced lamb shoulder, duck, beef and chicken to be added into your Shabu shabu. But for me, I choose the duck meat as well as chicken to be accompanied in my shabu shabu this round.

During Happy Hour they do serves some new items. This round, they serves us with fresh salmon fish which is just cut from the kitchen. The Happy Hour is at around 8-9 pm which is only for an hour. The salmon is fresh and nice combination to eat as sashimi.

As for the sauce, they have a variety of sauce for you to choose. There are goma, ponzu, thai chili sauce. Wafu, shoyu as well as Nyonya. Here you can also pick the soup paste like Kimchi, Ginger as well as Toban Miso if you do not want to taste the original recipes from Nagomi which is the Nagomi Soup.

– The Watermelon and Honeydew-

The fruits stations are served with 2 types of fruits which is the watermelon and honeydew. The fruits are freshly cut as well.

To complete the meal, they have also some cuts of puddings. It is pity they don’t serves ice creams. There are varieties of puddings to choose as well

Please note that the buffet does not include any drinks. As so, you may order your drinks as they have a lot to choose from Green Tea, fresh juice as well as Beer. Now they are having Beer Promotion where it is RM 30++ for a bucket/

This round, we do take a video on the food as we hope our readers can watch what they have in Nagomi. Enjoy!
