PERANAKAN PLACE, 1-UTAMA

January 2, 2011 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review Leave a Comment

Peranakan Place is a place where you may find the dining of nyonya style or to say the Malaccan dish. Peranakan Place is located on the 1st Floor of 1-Utama which is just opposite My News Café. The environment here is a bit cozy and the environment is alike dining in a Malaccan house.
There is a various of Malaccan delights which you may find here

Kerabu Chicken Feet which is one of the famous dish among Chinese. The kerabu is actually made up of mango, bawang and some lime. It is served raw. As for chicken feat, they will cooked the chicken feat and remove the skin. Once is being cleaned, it will be added together with the kerabu and mix together and here they served the kerabu Chicken Feat. The Kerabu Chicken Feat is quite nice and a bit spicy as they added chilly paddy on it.
Taste: 4/5
Price: RM 13.00

Nyonya Laksa is a bit different compared to the normal asam laksa. I can say is slightly a like Siam Laksa which is more to be added with coconut milk rather than asam. The taste is more milky and ingredients is much the same as Asam Laksa except for the soup base.
Taste: 3/5
Price: RM 9.50

As for me, I ordered the set of rempah fish set. The set comes with a rempah fish, a jiu hu char and an egg. The set is comes with a slightly lemak rice which is simply nice and delighting. As for this the fish which is used is the ikan kembung which is normally used to make rempah fish. The rempah fish is not as spicy as what I think and the rempah is not much. A small portion of it and looks like is not really enough. The jiu hu char is not really delighting as well.
Taste: 3/5
Price: RM 12.90

There is also Portugese Fried Mee which is quite nice. The taste was simply delighting and I can say is a thumb up for this.
Taste: 4/5
Price: RM 9.50

Water Chesnut’s taste is also not much a superb compared to the one I had in Very Thai. Em.. but is still can chunk into my mouth. Haha…
Taste: 3/5
Price: RM 4.50

Subjected to 5% government tax and 10% service charge
