Ling Nam Kopitiam @ Paloh : Over 50 year kopitiam with great coffee and toast!

October 14, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Ling Nam Kopitiam is one of the koptiam which we venture this round. Located in Paloh a small town in Johor. The town is not much developed but they have loads of small little things which led me back to my school days.

Ling Nam Kopitiam is one of the famous kopitiam here and it has been operating for very long. And in here their highlights is their coffee and toast bread of course.  And in here, the coffee is personally made by Mr Wong himself who had been running the koptiam over 50 years. One can choose to have the kopi-o or even the kopi ( with milk). The kopi here is marvellous where the taste is just perfect. Love the smooth texture of the coffee and the taste is just robust and it just tastes like home.

Asides from the coffee, the kaya bread is another must-have here. The kaya here is different from many shops where their kaya is not too thick but really caramelized and delicious. One can also order half boiled egg to accompanied their kaya toast as well.

Asides, they do have nasi lemak for those who are looking for a heavy breakfast. Light spiciness but deliciously good.

The unique things about this shop are they have so much of antiques and stories behind it. Each of it is great memories and we can see all of them here. And being passionate about the heritage of kopitiams, Mr Wong shared stories behind the early version of the bottle drinks and the different packaging of it.

Not just that, Mr Wong also showed us some of his old collections from cigarette boxes, lighters and also various tin openers as well.

He then also demonstrated his skills in opening a milk tin with an old style can opener blindfolded within 3 seconds.

Asides, one can also purchase some of the old-school candies in packets there too.
