China House at Hyatt Regency KL Midtown Unveils Lunar New Year 2026 Reunion Menu

January 25, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

In anticipation of the Year of the Fire Horse, China House at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur, KL Midtown has announced the launch of its Lunar New Year 2026 Reunion Menus, marrying time-honoured traditions with contemporary culinary craftsmanship under the guidance of Executive Chef Alan Shao. Offering families and corporate groups a refined setting for festive gatherings, the curated menus are designed to blend auspicious symbolism with sophisticated flavours, reinforcing China House’s reputation for delivering elegant Chinese dining experiences.

An Auspicious Start: Feng Sheng Shui Qi Yee Sang

The reunion feast begins with the Feng Sheng Shui Qi Yee Sang, a vibrant and symbolic dish crafted with fresh salmon and tender poached Qingyuan chicken. Paired with an assortment of crisp vegetables and a delicately balanced house-made dressing, this centrepiece sets the tone for a celebratory meal, marking the act of lou hei (tossing the yee sang) as a ritual for prosperity and good fortune in the coming year.

A Showstopper: Rambutan Wood-Fired Peking Duck

A standout of the menu is the Rambutan Wood-Fired Peking Duck, which is carved tableside for a touch of theatre. Lightly smoked over fragrant rambutan wood, the duck offers crisp, lacquered skin and succulent meat imbued with subtle smoky notes. Served with classic accompaniments, this dish underscores Chef Shao’s commitment to elevating tradition through innovative technique and premium ingredients.

Comfort and Nourishment in Every Bowl

Guests will enjoy a soul-warming Double-Boiled Fish Maw Soup with Dried Scallops and Papaya, a nourishing broth that provides a gentle, flavourful pause between richer courses. Slow-cooked to perfection, the soup embodies the culinary principle of balance and wellbeing central to festive Chinese feasting.

A Symphony of Mains: Land and Sea Abundance

The main courses continue the celebration with an array of dishes symbolising prosperity and togetherness. Highlights include:

• Steamed Spotted Tiger Grouper with Sichuan Pepper, representing abundance and surplus (nian nian you yu).

• Honey-Glazed Wagyu Beef Ribs, offering a luxurious, melt-in-the-mouth experience.

• Crispy Garlic Lamb Chops, expertly prepared with aromatic garlic and savoury seasoning.

These are thoughtfully accompanied by Braised Tofu with Crab Roe, Stir-Fried Kai Lan, and a fragrant Seafood Fried Rice celebrated for its distinct wok hei.

A Refreshing Finale: Signature Yuzu Mooncake

The meal concludes on a refreshing note with China House’s Signature Yuzu Mooncake, providing a light, citrusy finish that cleanses the palate—a modern twist on the traditional festive sweet.

Celebrate in Style

With elegant presentation, measured pacing, and a focus on high-quality ingredients, China House’s Lunar New Year offering is crafted to suit both intimate family reunions and larger corporate celebrations. It presents a modern, yet deeply respectful interpretation of festive Chinese dining—where tradition meets innovation on every plate.
