BIRD GARDEN , AMAN SURIA

May 22, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Bird Garden which is located at the first floor just above Waltson brings us with the home cooked Japanese cuisine. Hard to judge by its name; the restaurant is pretty unique with the simple concept and it had shifted to a little shop above with the name of Bird Garden.

Formerly known as Bird Man, the restaurant brings us with the homey cocept with simple interior. With the wall sticker of birds adnorining the wall, the design is pretty impressive. The concept of bird garden is from the owner who had been staying in Japan for over 20 years who is a bird lover. He himself who is the birdlover had made the cozy restaurant with the bird nest theme shape pendant lamp, comfy cushion seats and wooden table of similar tone brings the whole environment into a calm, relaxing ambience.

A starter to start off our meals while waiting for the mains to arrived – Crispy Pollock Fish 吉列波拉魚佐魚子 ( RM6) comes well with the crispy exterior and with the flaky soft fish filling with it.

As for the mains, we had the Pork Hamburg Steak 紅燒豬肉漢堡牛排 (RM19.90) where the hearty portion of two huge patty sided with loads of fries, vegetable and mayo dressing. All served on the wooden board. The handmade pork patty is just awesome with the chewy and moist texture in it. Laced with the seaweed strips and topped with the generous amount of the bonito flakes; it’s just awesome as it is.

Rice lover would order this- Unagi and Sausage Omelette Rice 鰻魚窩單飯 (RM19.90). Tossed with the unagi, omelette, sausages and rice together, the rice is just perfect with all the scrumptious ingridients where it is packed with flavors, aroma and the rice brings us with the moist texture in it too.

Coming next is the pasta- The Carbonara Pasta with Smoked Duck熏鴨奶香意大利面 (RM22.90) where the pasta is being cooked al-dente and it is drenched with the creamy and rich sauce in it. It is then added with the smoky duck where it is packed with the flavors in it. It is just good as it is, bringing the dish a rich and heavy one.

Bathing Bear Japanese Curry (沐浴熊日式咖喱) is too cute to eat it. The Japanese rice is being shapped into a bear and it bathed in a bed of curry. Basic creamy temptations, with no spiciness at all but it’s comes well with the rich aroma of curry in it. Try them with the choice of pork katsu at RM17.90; fish katsu at 17.90 while with ebi fry for RM 18.90.

Soft Shell Carb Fried Rice 軟殼蟹炒飯 (RM19.90) where the dish is served with the fluffy soft rice and the crispy soft shell crab in it. Well; the fried rice comes well but not too much my favorite.

As for the Teriyaki Chicken 日式紅燒雞扒 (RM16.90); it tastes alike like marmites sauce to me. As for the chicken; it is good where the chicken texture is on the firmer type. I love it as it is chewy too.

Japanese Grilled Pork Chop 日式烤豬排 (RM15.90) indeed something worth to check it out. The pork chop is well marinated with their own signature sauce. The wholesome dish of pork chop covers with the light peppery taste. Yummz.

As for the pork katsu豬排 (RM15.90); it is being deep fried till golden brown. With the breadcrumb with it; it brings us a crispy bites at the skin and inside leaves us with the juicy texture. Served together with it includes rice, vegetables, miso soup, egg and their rotating daily side dish.

I love their Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Crushed Cookie & Roasted Caramel 餅乾碎烤焦糖香草雪糕 (RM9.90). Something unique to try off where the vanilla ice cream is served with the crushed buttered cookie and roasted caramel for contrast bites together with a scope of vanilla ice cream with it.

Custard Purin 蛋奶部丁 (RM6.90) comes with the smooth and soft texture pudding and it is such a decent homemade desserts to go for.

Comes to desserts; we had the Peach Anmitsu桃子餡蜜 (RM9.90). Bird Garden serves us with their homemade green tea ice cream together with peach and mochi. Sprinkled with the sweet candy flakes on top.

Jasmine Berries Tea 茉莉漿果茶 (RM7.90) is one of their recommended drinks.Served in a unique glass with two outlets where one is the berries essence and another is Japanese tea. To enjoy them, pour a ratio of 1:2 of berries essence in dark purple with Jasmine tea.

Blossom Flower Tea 東方美人花茶 (RM6.90) comes with the variety of choice where it includes Lavender Tea, Rose Tea, Blossom Flower Tea, Hawthorn Honey Tea, Almond Milk Flower Tea and Macadamia Milk Flower Tea. Choose up to your preference.
