Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur Hosted “Majlis Makan Malam” with Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim & Asnaf Qaseh Ibu

March 13, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

In the spirit of the holy month, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur hosted children from Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim & Asnaf Qaseh Ibu for a meaningful evening of togetherness at its annual Embrace the Gift of Life “Majlis Makan Malam” initiative. The heartfelt event brought together community partners, sponsors, media representatives, and hotel colleagues in a celebration of compassion, unity, and the joy of shared blessings.

The day began with an exciting pick-up on the KL Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing bus, taking the children on a memorable journey to the iconic KL Tower. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the KL Tower team and CEO, Khairil Faizal Hj Othman. The children then visited the Sky Deck, where they enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur’s stunning skyline, setting the tone for a day filled with meaningful experiences and joyful moments. Following the KL Tower tour, the children boarded the KL Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing bus and began their journey to Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the hotel’s colleagues, whose cheerful greetings and hospitality set a joyful tone for the evening ahead.

Throughout the evening, the children took part in traditional games such as Anyaman Ketupat, Congkak, Dam Haji and Batu Seremban, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and connection. The programme was further enriched by the presence of valued sponsors and partners, including KL Tower, KL Hop-On Hop-Off, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia Design & Development Centre (DDEC), whose collective support reflected a shared commitment to uplifting the community.

As the call to prayer resonated through the venue, the evening paused for a moment of reflection. The Azan and Doa Berbuka were recited by one of the children, marking a touching moment before guests and children broke their fast together over a specially curated spread prepared by the hotel’s culinary team. The children also enjoyed a delightful selection of festive delicacies, including an ice cream station, popcorn station, and an array of local and international desserts, adding a sweet and joyful touch to the evening celebration.

Embodying the spirit of giving during Ramadan, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur also presented a MYR 5,000 donation to Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim & Asnaf Qaseh Ibu, reaffirming the hotel’s commitment to supporting the wellbeing and future of the children under the home’s care.

The celebration continued with a captivating magic performance by Luqman Dino, whose engaging act delighted the children and guests alike. Adding to the festive atmosphere was a vibrant Caklempong and vocal showcase by students from Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA), bringing a beautiful touch of Malaysian cultural heritage to the evening.

During his address, Daniel Kaeflein, General Manager of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, reaffirmed the hotel’s dedication to community engagement.

“At Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, hospitality extends beyond welcoming guests; it is about nurturing meaningful connections and giving back to the community. This sacred month reminds us that the greatest impact comes from shared kindness, and we are honoured to celebrate this special evening with the children and our partners,” he said.

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur extends its sincere appreciation to all sponsors, partners, and colleagues whose dedication and generosity made the evening possible, reflecting the true spirit of compassion and togetherness that defines the holy month season.
