Nando’s PERi-PERi Chicken Lands in Miri!

February 1, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

The people of Miri are in for a treat as Nando’s Malaysia is set to open doors to our very first outlet in the city at Bintang Megamall this 8th February 2024, just in time for the roaring festivities and family gatherings this Lunar New Year! Born in South Africa with a blend of Portuguese heritage, Nando’s finally brings its PERi-PERi, unique flavours and South African passion to the beautiful coastal city of Miri.

Truly passionate about chillies, Nando’s grows its own African Bird’s Eye Chilli also known as PERi-PERi chillies with the help of over 1,400 independent farmers in Southern Africa. Mixing these fiery little wonders with a dash of herbs, a kick of garlic and onions and a squeeze of lemon produces the brand’s unparalleled secret weapon, Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce.

Putting flavour first and heat second, the Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce is unlike the ‘all-out-burn’ of other chilli sauces. Nando’s chickens are marinated in PERi-PERi for 24 hours ensuring that flavour gets right to the bone, flame-grilled – melting all the fats making it healthier, then finally basted with your choice of heat level ranging from not-spicy Lemon & Herb to the fiery Extra Hot.

“Here in Miri where the local culture is rich and the Sarawak Pepper is king, we are absolutely thrilled to be serving up our PERi-PERi heat and sharing our South African heritage. Our aim is to not only introduce mouth-watering South African flavours to the people of Miri, but also offer them a new go-to place to for family and friends to enjoy good company, food, music, art and have a nice meal out – we love nothing more than people gathering around our tables sharing delicious PERi-PERi, laughter and feeling right at home,” said Chai Hui Fung, Chief Commercial Officer of Nando’s Malaysia.

Beyond the grill: The Nando’s experience.

Everyone is welcome at Nando’s because there’s something for everyone. Large families and parties can gather around Nando’s family-sized tables for 10 or 12 while splitting our sharing platters of 16 Wingettes and Drumettes or Jumbo platter with 2 whole chickens and 5 large sides. Couples or those searching for a quick meal can snuggle up in our intimate bunk seats patterned in colourful South African designs while enjoying a Rice Bowl like the all-new PERi-crackle Chicken Rice Bowl at only RM18.90.

Nando’s invites all fans to feel at home when dining at Nando’s – looking for a place to have a chicken wing eating contest and worried your children will eat with their hands, Nando’s has you covered with friendly smiles and wash basins. Want to feel fancy on a romantic date but not shell out the big bucks, Nando’s has you covered with original one-of-a-kind Southern African art on the walls and Afro-luso music that’s upbeat yet sultry.

Nando’s is also known to give chicken lovers a bang for their buck. The full range of bottomless offerings will be available at Miri – refillable soft drinks, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, exclusive Rubro Peach Tea, and also the frozen yogurt, Nando’s Bottomless Froyo. The Nando’s loyalty programme, a mobile application, showers fans with the best rewards by allowing them to redeem an entire chicken meal after only 3 visits and collecting 3 chillies – not to mention also the birthday perks and exclusive for-members-only deals.

Arriving with heart, in style.

Nando’s Miri will be opening our doors at Bintang Megamall (Lot G.45 & 46, Ground Floor) with a big bang next weekend, starting with a 5-day fun-filled party. Everyone will get to make your own PERi-PERi sauce, get dolled up with exclusive temporary tattoos and bring home a portrait as a keepsake on top of partying with local DJs during lunch and dinner from 8th to 12th February 2024. Restaurant (and party) operation hours are 10AM – 9PM daily.

Just before all the fun festivities, Nando’s will be donating 150 meals to 4 charity homes so that everyone can experience the Nando’s heat and PERi-PERi chicken. Being a positive impact on the community is something Nando’s has always believed in.
