TekSen Restaurant  @ Carnovan Street : Michelin Bib Gourmand Outlet with 40 years operation

December 27, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

TekSen Restaurant is a dining establishment in Penang that has garnered quite a reputation among locals and tourists alike. With over 40 years of experience, the restaurant has earned its place in the culinary scene, receiving recognition such as the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for its food quality and consistency.

Located on Carnarvon Street, the restaurant is always bustling with patrons, especially during peak hours. If you’re driving, finding a parking spot can be a challenge. However, we were fortunate enough to be staying at a nearby hotel and opted to walk over for a more convenient dining experience. Despite the crowd, we only had to wait for 20 minutes in line before being seated.

Now let’s talk about the star of the show – the food! TekSen offers a wide range of dishes that are packed with flavor, but we’ll focus on a few standout dishes from our recent visit:

Fired Roasted Pork

The Fired Roast Pork is a fan favorite, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The top layer was crispy, and there was a light burst of spiciness that made it even more delicious. The caramelized texture that coated the meat was a testament to the chef’s skills.

Seaweed Soup

The seaweed soup was a comforting and hearty meal that satisfied our family’s taste buds. It came with slices of pork, seaweed, and fish balls, creating a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Signature Tofu

The golden tofu is a must-try signature dish that we absolutely loved. The homemade tofu melted in our mouths and left us craving more. In fact, we ordered a second serving!

Curry Fish

The Curry Fish was not your typical thick, coconutty curry. Instead, it had a sour and spicy flavor, and the fish was fresh and generously portioned. The dish had a homemade feel to it, and we couldn’t get enough.

Overall, our experience at TekSen was fantastic, and the prices were reasonable considering the food quality. We can’t wait to go back and try more dishes on the menu.

If you’re in Penang and looking for a dining experience that’s sure to satisfy your taste buds, be sure to check out TekSen Restaurant
