Culinary Sensation Week – Global Showcase of Gastronomic Brilliance Arrives in Vietnam for One Week Only

February 4, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is excited to invite food enthusiasts  to join in the inaugural Culinary Sensation week. Taking place from February 27 to March 3, 2023, the resort’s first gourmet week brings together a selection of the world’s finest chefs from Germany, Turkey, Australia, and Vietnam. The series promises to enrich guests’ gastronomy experience as it celebrates the vibrancy of food and beverage with a sustainable twist.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet and enjoy menus created by Michelin-starred Chef Julia Komp from Cologne, Six Senses Kocataş Mansions Executive Chef Yusuf Kızılırmak from Istanbul, Chef Patron Truong Quang Dung from Hanoi, and Six Senses Ninh Van Bay Executive Chef Timothy Goddard, originally from Canberra, Australia. A cross-culture culinary journey is set for diners to taste diverse menus with a balanced combination of local spices and fresh ingredients.

The culinary series will begin with a special Opening Ceremony on Monday, February 27, to welcome and introduce each chef. The following day, the series will make its first stop at Dining by the Pool Restaurant, where Chefs Julia, Quang Dung, and Yusuf will collaborate to share their unique takes on sustainable cuisine over a six-course, six-hand dinner. The remainder of the week puts the spotlight on each chef where guests will experience a unique culinary offering every day.

Chef Julia Komp – Germany’s youngest female Michelin-starred chef

Not only is Julia Komp Germany’s youngest female Michelin-starred chef at the age 27, but she is also a world traveler and owner of Sahila Restaurant in Cologne. She has visited more than 45 countries, from Morocco to Japan, finding her inspirations and discovering dozens of original recipes shared by the local chefs that she met along the way. Her guests enjoy light and fresh combinations, characterized by spices from the orient and southeast Asia. “Food has to be fruity, hearty, and real. I observed that food makes people happy, and I wanted to cook to see that smile on people’s faces,” she says.

On March 1, guests will meet Chef Julia at her first and only pop-up dinner at Drinks by the Beach to experience her world-class cuisine created from sustainable and organic ingredients.

Chef Truong Quang Dung – Founder and Chef Patron at the first charcoal grill fine-dining restaurant in Vietnam

Chef Truong Quang Dung is the owner of Chapter Dining and Grill in Vietnam’s Capital, Hanoi, known as the first charcoal grill fine-dining concept in Vietnam. His cuisine is described as elegant but rustic, authentic but creative. He combines European and Asian cuisines in one plate. During his stint at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Chef Dung will create unique fine-dining experiences for dinners from organic and handpicked ingredients fresh from the market. “On my visit to Six Senses Ninh Van Bay this time around, I’m planning to delight all senses with the most primitive ingredients and cooking methods,” says Chef Quang Dung.

On March 1, guests will join Chef Dung on his journey to a Vietnamese Food Market visit, followed by lunch at The Farmhouse Restaurant.

On March 2, Chef Dung will take diners on an exclusive journey of world-class cuisine, using seasonal ingredients. Guests will have a chance to taste the originality of Vietnamese ingredients with charcoal grilling, a cooking method used widely in traditional Vietnamese kitchens.

Chef Yusuf Kızılırmak – Executive Chef of Six Senses Kocataş Mansions, Istanbul

As Executive Chef of Six Senses Kocataş Mansions in Istanbul, Yusuf Kızılırmak oversees three world-famous restaurants. With more than 19 years of experience, Yusuf has achieved a number of precious culinary awards from Chaine Des Rotisseurs, IKA Culinary Olympics Competition, and the Istanbul Gastronomy Festival. Yusuf’s cuisine blends his native style with the local influence to create unique flavor combinations. “Turkish cuisine is much more colorful and has a lot more to offer than just the meat-full skewers. During this week-long journey at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, I want to draw out the best of Turkish gastronomy in the fine-dining concept from a wellness perspective,” Chef Yusuf Kızılırmak says.

On March 2, Chef Yusuf will bring guests to enjoy an unforgettable gastronomy experience through his Turkish Masterclass at Grandma’s Kitchen following the Eat With Six Senses philosophy, where food is as nutritious as it is delicious.

On March 3, Chef Yusuf will enrich diners’ culinary education with authentic Turkish dishes over a pop-up dinner at Dining by the Bay, where guests will be delighted by Mediterranean, Balkan, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Eastern European cuisines.

Chef Goddard Timothy James – Executive Chef of Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam

Since joining Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in October 2022 as the resort’s Executive Chef, Chef Timothy – affectionately known as Chef Tim – has continually been bringing his passion for creating fine-dining plant-based dishes from seasonal and local ingredients. Diners at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay have been impressed with his creativity through the concept of using fresh ingredients collected from the resort’s organic garden to create a 100 percent plant-based menu at the Farmhouse Restaurant.

On March 3, guests can join Chef Tim at this plant-based gathering to learn about nutrients and the methods used to raise vegetables and fruits at the resort’s Solar Freshcuts Gardens. On the agenda is an interactive cooking class to create mouth-watering ‘farm-to-table’ meals for lunch.

“It is so exciting to join other talented chefs from around the world sharing the same passion for sustainable cuisines,” says Chef Tim.

Commenting on the Culinary Sensation, General Manager Benjamin Kreuz stated, “This is the first event of its kind at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay. As our resort continuously evolves, we wish to highlight the numerous dining outlets and opportunities we have in our resort to grow organic produce. While food can be known as the language of love, we believe that food also brings people together, which is what we aim to achieve with this special series.”

A special Culinary Sensation stay package has been created and is available to book online. Discover more here.
