Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Continues Their Yearly Traditional of Spreading Festival Cheer To The Local Community

December 22, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur brought smiles and joy to about 45 underprivileged children from Rumah Victory Children Home & Diamond Children Home in an afternoon of food, fun and games to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday. This Christmas High Tea event is just one among the many of Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The children were treated to a grand High Tea feast containing every child’s dream food. From fish & chips, pizza to many sweet treats, the children were truly spoiled for choice. Not only that, but the session also saw members of the staff from all departments having a ball with the children as some dressed as Santa and Santarina to hand out candies and gifts. The fun wasn’t one-sided as the two homes also had a chance to receive first hand training from the hotel’s chefs in decorating Christmas gingerbread cookies. From princesses to Christmas trees, the children were extremely creative in their cookie decorations.

The children got right into the Christmas spirit by building snowmen out of recycled materials like shredded paper, recycled water bottles and other items provided by the hotel. They concluded their activities with a well-rehearsed performance of Christmas carols in English, Mandarin and Tamil.

However, the children were not alone in their fun. The recently appointed General Manager, Mr. Peter Gibbons was well involved in judging the kids’ creative decorations and said, “It’s a joy to spend time with such an inventive and imaginative bunch! Christmas is a time for giving and spreading joy. Therefore, we are resolute in providing unique experiences for all and that is why Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur will always remain dedicated to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. It is essential for us to strive to be better and to bring about a resourceful and enterprising new generation”.

In keeping with its’ efforts to connect with the community, the hotel has also planned for two other upcoming initiatives which include a Chinese New Year visit to Rumah Victory for the Elderly and Persatuan Kebajikan & Social Kim Loo Ting KL in January and a visit to children in hospitals during the holy month of Ramadan.

In addition, the hotel has an on-going programme to hire more People with Disability (PWD), focusing on their abilities rather than their disabilities. With current PWD staff, the hotel has consistently provided sufficient training to ensure employees with disabilities can expand their skills and reach their full potential with the hotel.

This mission is in line with Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur to promote community enrichment through mutual respect and understanding.
