The Beverly Hills Hotel to Display Collection of Marilyn Monroe Memorabilia in Partnership with Julien’s Auctions and TCM

June 17, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

This extraordinary collection of costumes, personal handwritten notes, and more will be on display at the hotel from June 13th through July 10th in celebration of Monroe’s 96th birthday and the hotel’s 110th anniversary, before being sold at “Julien’s Auctions and TCM Present: Hollywood Legends,” a three day auction event taking place live Friday, July 15th, Saturday, July 16th and Sunday, July 17th   in Beverly Hills and online at juliensauctions.com.

Marilyn has a long history with the hotel, which includes living on and off in her favorite bungalows 1 and 7, staying in bungalow 20 and 21 with Yves Montand when filming Let’s Make Love over at Fox Studios, and dining at Table 6 in the Polo Lounge. The hotel recently redesigned Bungalow 1 after the icon, incorporating aspects of her life and whimsical elements reflective of her most celebrated movie roles.

Items on display include an embellished Travilla gown with headpiece worn by Marilyn Monroe while singing “After You Get What You Want You Don’t Want It” in the 1954 musical There’s No Business Like Show Business; Monroe’s pale pink silk blouse worn in Let’s Make Love, a pair of Napier gold-tone floral basket earrings with faceted crystal beads, worn by Monroe in promotional photos for How To Marry A Millionaire; handwritten notes and documents pertaining to her acting classes and film work such as, an original note to acting mentor Lee Strasberg handwritten by Monroe, a motivational note handwritten by Monroe on The Beverly Hills Hotel stationery; and a sheet of personal notes about her Actors Studio acting classes in New York handwritten on The Towers of The Waldorf-Astoria stationery in 1955. Guests and locals alike will have the rare opportunity to see these one-of-a-kind items in the hotel’s lobby and promenade level from June 13 – July 10.
