Samsung Malaysia Electronics today commemorated the launch of the new Galaxy S22 series with an event and short film competition named Born of the Galaxy Stars. This competition was endorsed by the Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) and sought 22 aspiring filmmakers of all backgrounds to produce their films with the Galaxy S22 Series.
With the library of camera features available on the Galaxy S22 Series, the competition empowered new and aspiring directors to break the barriers of traditional filmmaking – by redefining the filmmaking experience and packaging all of that into one ultimate smartphone series.
Nightography Film Teasers was the event-highlight to showcase the work of four homegrown directors who produced four shorts that were filmed entirely on the Galaxy S22 Series. The amazing short films presented themes of Fashion, Fitness, Romance, and Music to celebrate the craft and drive inspiration for hopeful filmmakers via an extensive Q&A session that followed after.

The Galaxy Series made its name for challenging boundaries through leading mobile innovation and the Galaxy S22 Series upheld this promise with its extremely dynamic cameras, AI-backed processing, and vibrant displays to transcend the standard mobile-experience. Guests at the event were also treated to a hands-on session where they were not only able to test the smartphone but be among the first to feel the complete Galaxy S22 Series experience in the Nightography Room, where a theatre hall was transformed into an immersive multi-purpose experiential room.
As extension to their commitment, aspiring filmmakers may participate in the Born of the Galaxy Stars film competition by submitting a short script in-line with the theme Borderless with Nightography by 17 April 2022.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) will then select 22 teams who will be presented with the Galaxy S22 Series to shoot and produce their short film. The final production will then be in the running to win an award in July 2022 at the Malaysian International Film Festival (MIFFest) opening ceremony.
In addition, 1 grand prize winner will be selected from the Top 3 and this winner will receive a recognition award, RM8,000 cash, a trophy, and Samsung products. The winner will also have a chance to expand their network to industry leaders in Malaysia during the 5th MIFFest Opening Ceremony.
