KFC Celebrates Malaysia’s Peranakan Heritage with KFC Ayam Pedas Nyonya

December 7, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

Born out as a hybrid of cultures from Chinese settlers and local Malay during the colonial era, the Peranakan culture has had significant imprints on the Malaysian culture and inherited us with rich cultural heritage. Boasting rich food traditions with unique and bold flavours, Malaysia’s celebrated Peranakan culinary is the inspiration for our newest limited-time-only menu, KFC Ayam Pedas Nyonya.

Featuring quintessential Nyonya ingredient – bunga kantan, and other key ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime, and shallots, KFC Ayam Pedas Nyonya infused the distinct flavours of Nyonya cuisines to our signature Hot & Spicy chicken, resulting in a wonderful collision of flavours. One can expect a fragrant, tangy, and aromatic Nyonya splendour in each crunchy bite of Ayam Pedas Nyonya.

“The Peranakan cuisine is all about innovation and adaptation – principles that KFC identifies well with. Our newest innovative menu, KFC Ayam Pedas Nyonya was inspired by Nyonya cuisines that are often intricate and meticulous works of art, requiring hours of preparation. As a brand inspired by Malaysians, made by Malaysians for Malaysians, we have always wanted to tackle the immensely flavourful Nyonya cuisines, and we trust our KFC twist to the cuisine will not disappoint,” said Chan May Ling, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Malaysia.

KFC Ayam Pedas Nyonya will be available starting tomorrow at all KFC stores nationwide. Starting from RM15.99, you can enjoy this new Finger Lickin’ Good meal in 3 options: (1) 2-pc Combo, (2) 3-pc Combo, and (3) Box Meal.

Get it safer, faster, and easier by opting for KFC Delivery, Self Collect, and Pandu Ambil. Go to www.KFC.com.my or download the KFC Malaysia app.
