HILTON – A GREAT PLACE TO WORK FOR MALAYSIANS

July 19, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Hilton, after a recent celebration of its 100th anniversary, has yet another cause for celebration. Building on the brand’s outstanding achievement earlier this year as the top global hospitality company to work for in Asia, Hilton is now certified as a Great Place to Work in Malaysia. The certification is awarded based on the Great Place to Work Trust Index© Employee survey, which involves sharing their honest feedback on how credibility, respect, and fairness are expressed in the workplace.

Hilton is one of the first international hotel chains to make its mark in the country several decades ago. Since then, the brand has expanded its national footprint and currently operates with 11 properties across three key brands – Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Hilton Garden Inn.

Hilton currently employs 2,700 Malaysians throughout its 11 properties across Malaysia. This figure is expected to double within the next five years as the portfolio expands and new properties and brands are introduced in the country.

Jamie Mead, Regional General Manager, Malaysia, Philippines, and Vietnam said, “One of our main focuses as a brand is to create the best working environment for our employees to maintain our position as a desirable place to work as well as the pivot for attracting top talents within Malaysia. This ensures our continual and future success as the leaders of hospitality.”
He went on to say, “The reason why we place so much emphasis on our talents is because our people is what sets us apart. We support multiple development programs to ensure that we are nurturing and developing new employees, equipping them with skills as they course through their professional lives

An advocate for lifelong learning, Hilton introduced Hilton University, an e-learning platform made available for all Hilton Team Members. The innovative learning and growth site was introduced in the late 90s and includes mandatory e-learning courses such as leadership skills, computing skills and organisational skills, which are taught via a third party e-learning platform. In 2014, Hilton Worldwide University was rebranded to Hilton University.

Most recently, the brand introduced the Hilton Training Suite, an extension of the Hilton Mock Room, a collaboration with INTI College, Subang Jaya, where future industry graduates are equipped with practical learning experiences from one of the world’s leading hospitality brands.
