Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong Celebrates 55 Fantastic Years with an Exclusive Gala Dinner at Mandarin Grill + Bar

September 24, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Located in the heart of Hong Kong since 1963, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong honours its 55th anniversary with a gala dinner at Michelin-starred Mandarin Grill + Bar on 25 October 2018. To commemorate this milestone achievement, guests will embark on a culinary journey through the decades while celebrating the special occasion.

As legendary as the hotel, Mandarin Grill + Bar has long been renowned as Hong Kong’s favourite dining room serving grill classics. From the stunning setting to the live jazz performance throughout the evening, guests will be transported in time and reminisce the 1960s.

The nostalgic evening will feature timeless flavours through a gastronomic four-course tasting menu designed by Executive Chef Robin Zavou. To start, a selection of hors d’oeuvres will be presented which include Kumamoto Oyster, Homemade Smoked Salmon, Oscietra Caviar, and Foie Gras Terrine. Guests will then be offered an array of all-time favourites, such as Steak Tartare and Lobster Bisque, as well as a choice of Beef Wellington, Lobster Thermidor, or Dover Sole “Veronique”. To complete the journey, guests can select either the Crêpes Suzette or Baked Alaska, prepared à la minute on a dessert trolley.

The four-course tasting menu is priced at HKD 1963* per person including a glass of Champagne on arrival and a keepsake to take home. To elevate the experience, the hotel’s resident sommelier has carefully selected vintage wines where each represents a specific decade and available at an additional cost. Highlights of these fine wines include 1963 Quinta do Vale D. Dona Maria Colheita Port from Portugal, 1989 Château Pontet-Canet from Pauillac, France, and 1994 Domaine Henri Rebourseau Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru from Cote de Nuits, France.
