Associate Appreciation Week Celebration at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

June 8, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Each year, Marriott International marks the anniversary of its founding, 20 May, by setting aside one week to express appreciation for its global family of hotel staff. The staff at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel joined more than 6,000 managed and franchised Marriott Hotels’ staff in 120 countries worldwide to celebrate the annual Associates Appreciation Week from 22 to 26 May 2017, this time made extra special as it was also Marriott’s 90th anniversary.

The week kicked off with a TakeCare Wellbeing Day on Monday, 22 May to celebrate commitment to the staff wellbeing and happiness by focusing on their health, and the importance of taking care of themselves just as they take care of the hotel’s guests. Hotel staff were welcomed with breakfast, the most important meal of the day followed by sessions on facial techniques and skincare tips, free eye and glucose tests.

Unity Day held on Tuesday, 23 May provided an opportunity for properties across the globe to celebrate the differences that make each of its staff unique. Non-uniformed staff were encouraged to wear their traditional attire that day to create a sense of togetherness and belonging.

Wednesday, 24 May was the Spirit To Serve Our Community day where hotel staff went to Dataran Maybank, Masjid Jamek and Masjid Negara to distribute 200 goody bags containing nonperishable food items to the homeless.

A Marriott KL cluster bowling tournament was held on Thursday, 25 May at the bowling alley of Wangsa Walk. Participated by all Marriott International hotels within the Klang Valley, 21 teams pitted their bowling skills against each. Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel emerged as the champion of the tournament and took away the championship trophy. The hotel’s Reservations Manager Karen Yap also emerged as the best female bowler of the tournament.

Fun activities such as telematches, Renaissance Cultural Chef Challenge, karaoke, and an entire week of diverse flavours for lunch and dinner at the staff café were hosted throughout the week-long celebration.
