The event provides participants that came from various travel agencies, government agencies, hoteliers, health and wellness operators, and education sections to connect with travel industry associates.

Tourism Selangor took part in the media sessions organized by Tourism Malaysia in promoting new tourism products Selangor has to offer, as well the direction and goals of tourism between Selangor and Indonesia.

“Selangor’s tourism industry still has a lot of potential for development and can be explored even further, particularly with our counterparts here in Indonesia.  In our quest to be an active and thriving tourism industry, we at Tourism Selangor and the Selangor government are supportive of all efforts by our local industry players to develop the attractive products available at our home,” said Puan Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din, General Manager of Tourism Selangor.

Both Selangor and Indonesia are popular attractions from visitors around the globe. Indonesia itself has recorded 5.47 million foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2015. Jakarta is a renowned destination for Malaysians, while Tourism Selangor has welcomed millions of tourists from Indonesia into both Selangor and Malaysia.

The state has recorded over 7.1 million visitors in 2015, and so far this year, until March 2016 has reached over 1.9 million visitors. From the fascinating fireflies colonies at Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor to the world class shopping centres, asia best entertainment and theme parks, there are many more attractions in Selangor that needs to be showcased to the people of the world.

The state also has been monitoring the growing arrival of visitors who come to Selangor seeking medical treatment and while they are being treated, they also take restful holidays with their families here.  There are a wide number of medical centres in Selangor who have recognised this potential and are actively participating in Medical Tourism. Rest assured, Selangor is the ideal destination with excellent infrastructure and accessibility to promote Medical Tourism.

There are over 26 private panel hospitals in Selangor registered under the Malaysian Healthcare Tourism Council (MHTC) offering various medical treatments.  Malaysia also has plans to develop a world-class health metropolis in Selangor to serve as a critical part of the ASEAN healthcare ecosystem. This is all aligned to promote Medical Tourism in Selangor as it is also a perfect holiday destination with accessible tourist’s spots within close proximity and great food as well as rich culture.

Tourism Selangor is also proud to present their second edition of The Selangor Wellness Living Expo 2016 (SWELL 2016), which is taking place on 24 until 26 February 2017, at Setia City Convention Centre, Shah Alam, Selangor. This EXPO also brings a platform to Medical Tourism practitioners from local and international to sample the most innovative health, lifestyle and wellness enhancing their products and services.

Moreover, it is an honour to introduce New Tourism Products in Selangor such as Sky Mirror at Sasaran, Kuala Selangor an island that appears 6 days in a month and disappears on the 7th day! There is also the Sekinchan Ocean Gallery, Sekinchan 3D Art Museum, AHMA House, and boutique style lodges.

With a combination of rich history and culture, hustling cities and scenic villages, modern infrastructure and gastronomic delights – Selangor is a destination of choice for local and international visitors.

Supported by the State Government, this year’s promotional campaign ‘Discover Selangor’ aims to get even more tourists to experience the fun and enriching experiences in Selangor. Armed with the tagline ‘Heart of Malaysia’, the campaign offers new and returning visitors to have a complete experience of Selangor’s attractions – in lifestyle, MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference & Exhibition) and sports event.

“This year, we are going all out to promote Selangor both locally and globally, focusing on three main elements of Selangor – lifestyle, MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference & Exhibition) and sports events. We at Tourism Selangor would like to further strengthen the mutual relationship and corporation with Tourism Indonesia and the Pariwisata Ministry to work together beyond 2016,” said Puan Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din, General Manager of Tourism Selangor.
