SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR WINS BEST 5-STAR HOTEL IN GOING PLACES READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS 2015

February 8, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

The Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur started the Year of the Monkey with a bang by being voted the winner of the Best 5-Star Hotel in the Going Places Readers’ Choice Awards 2015 by ‘Going Places’, Malaysia Airlines in-flight magazine.
The inaugural Going Places Readers’ Choice Awards honour the best travel and lifestyle brands. It ran from June to December last year, seeking to identify the industry’s best in 16 categories, including Best 5-Star Hotel, Best Restaurant, Best Spa, Best Shopping Mall, and Best Beach Resort, among others.
Readers of ‘Going Places’, which included Malaysia Airlines passengers from all over the world, were invited to cast their votes. Each nominee had been carefully selected, based on their provision of the highest level of service to their customers.
“We are very honoured indeed to have been voted the Best 5-Star Hotel award in the Going Places Readers’ Choice Awards 2015,” said Manfred Weber, Area General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
“We wish to thank the readers of ‘Going Places’ in recognising our hotel and voting for us,” he said.
To usher in the Year of the Monkey, the award-winning hotel has created a magnificent floral Monkey masterpiece in the Main Lobby.
A total of 16,888 chrysanthemums in various colours were used to depict a Monkey holding the peach of eternal life. This gigantic three-dimensional centrepiece was put together by the hotel’s very own team of 13 artists and florists over two weeks.
It stands at 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. This auspicious floral Monkey centrepiece conveys wishes of prosperity, good fortune and longevity.
