BOUNTIFUL OFFERINGS FROM FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON WELCOME THE YEAR OF THE HORSE

January 5, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Chinese New Year is a time when families reunite, celebrate and feast.  According to Chinese tradition, the first day of the Lunar Year marks the start of the Spring Festival and ends with the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the month. The celebration is jubilant and lively with the intention of taking a break from work and enjoying time with friends and family.

Situated on Sandakan’s prominent waterfront overlooking the Sulu Sea, is the  Four Points by  Sheraton Sandakan. As the second largest city in Sabah, Sandakan is located on the east coast of  Borneo Island and is fast gaining popularity as an eco-tourism destination in South East Asia. Located at level 13, The Eatery  –  the hotel’s signature all day dining  venue  –  welcomes you to experience the traditional Lunar feast with a wide range of sumptuous, authentic Chinese cuisine  that includes Steamed Red Snapper with Szechuan Hot Bean Sauce, Salt Baked Chicken with Herbs, Roasted Spice Duck with Sour  Plum Sauce, Roasted Lamb Leg “Xin Jiang” style with condiments and many more to tempt your taste buds. Priced at RM68++ per person, the buffet is  available from 3rd January to 28th February 2014, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6.30pm to 10.00pm.

For a private family “Reunion Dinner” or a corporate event to celebrate “Sau Kong”, you can either book a table at The Eatery or at the hotel’s function rooms. Tickle your taste buds with signature dishes such as Shanghai Noodles, Braised Sea Asparagus and Fish Stomach in Superior Sauce, Steamed Sea Prawns with Fragrant Garlic Rice, and many more!Your Chinese New Year celebration won’t be complete without the famous Yee Sang. You can choose this exquisite dish either in tasteful Jelly Fish or with fresh salmon. The  Yee Sang dish is priced from RM48++ to RM108++ per portion. It is available daily from 17th January to 13th February at both, The Eatery and Wrapped, from 12.00 pm to 2.30 pm and from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm.You can choose to dine in or even take away at your own pleasure.

In addition to the Yee Sang dishes, The Eatery will also serve up three different Prosperity Set Menus (Gold, Platinum and Diamond). Prices range from RM888++ to RM1,188++ per table of 8 to 10 people. It is available daily from 17th January to 13th February 2014, from 12.00 pm to 2.30 pm and from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm. All set menus will require two days prior booking so you may want to start making your own reservations soon! SPG Restaurant and  Bars members will enjoy a 20% discount with every purchase. As Valentine’s Day falls on the last day of Chinese New Year, all single ladies who dine at The Eatery will receive a mandarin orange each. In conjunction with the Chap Goh Mei festival, women diners will be invited to participate in the throwing of the oranges into the Sandakan Bay as a part of  the Chap Goh Mei customs.

On top of that, if you wish to fulfill your sweet cravings then head for Wrapped, the Deli located at the ground floor where you can try  the Mandarin Orange cake at RM7++ per slice and at RM58++ per kg (available daily  from 1st January  –  28 th February 2014, from 8.00am to 10.00pm).
