THE PEAK TRAM VISIT: BRINGING YOU THE SUPERB VIEW OF HONG KONG CITY

December 9, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

My dreams come true. We headed to the first destination of our trip which is The Peak. The Peak is one of the places which is listed in the apps from Hong Kong Tourism as the Top 10 Places MUST go in Hong Kong. So, here we are. The Peak is located near the Central Station and to go there it basically needs around 10-15 minutes walk.

E-20131030-5130

We reach The Peak at around 4 plus and the line to purchase the ticket is pretty long. We found that there is another counter next to the ticketing counter where you can purchase the combo ticket where it comes with The Peak Ticket ( 2 way) + Madame Tussauds + The Sky Terrace 428 ticket at HKD 300.00. It is so called a short cut for you to get your ticket purchased without queuing at the long queue.

E-20131030-5143

The tram journey up to the peak takes around 30 minutes where you can have enjoy the breeze up with the view of the buildings at 45 degrees. Some tips for photographer, for those who want a better view for pictures, try to get your seats on the right of the tram up so you can snap the beautiful 45 degrees scenery when the tram going up.

During the tram ride, we get to understand some of the history of the Peak Tram as well as there is the Peak Tram Galleria below after you had purchase the Peak Tram Tickets.

The venerable Peak Tram is, as most passengers agree, the only way to truly experience the beauty of Hong Kong’s natural wonders. Tens of millions of people from every corner of the globe have taken the ride, which affords a uniquely spectacular perspective of the city.

Located also at the Garden Road Peak Tram Lower Terminus is The Peak Tram Historical Gallery. Open in September, 2007, The Peak Tram Historical Gallery is like a time tunnel with more than 200 memorabilia exhibited. Divided into 15 theme sections, it will take you back to Hong Kong in the 19th and 21st century. The first day of commercial operation on May 30th, 1888, attracted 600 passengers.

The view from the tram is amazingly beautiful and we have lots of fun on the peak tram itself. There are intermediate stations at Kennedy Road, Macdonnell Road, May Road and Barker Road although at busy times it may not be possible to board at intermediate stations as the train may be full to capacity.

How to go ?
The Lower Peak Tram Terminus can also be reached ON FOOT FROM CENTRAL OR ADMIRALTY MTR STATIONS within about 15 minutes walk.
