Nothing, the London-based consumer tech company, today announced Ear (3a), the next generation of its bestselling (a) series earbuds.

As part of Nothing’s playful (a) series, Ear (3a) is designed for a generation that sees technology as an extension of their personality. Inspired by the energy of music and self-expression, Ear (3a) introduces a bolder colour palette including a new striking Pink finish alongside Black, White, and an updated Yellow.
Designed for immersive listening and capturing inspiration whenever it happens, it combines playful design with technology that fits naturally into everyday life. Capture what you hear with Audio Snapshot* Ear (3a) introduces 32 MB of built-in flash storage, allowing users to capture audio moments directly through their earbuds.
Powered by Audio Snapshot, Ear (3a) lets users instantly clip media they’re listening to, whether listening back to an online lecture, or saving a voice note from a friend. By simply pinching both earbuds, Ear (3a) can capture both before and after the trigger, creating an audio “screenshot” of the moment.
Recordings are automatically synced to the Nothing X app, where they can be replayed, edited, shared and transcribed. Users can also transform key transcript moments into shareable quote cards, making it easier to revisit and share what stands out.
Remember what they said with Call recording Ear (3a) also enables direct call and meeting recording from the earbuds. With a simple gesture, users can start recording conversations for up to approximately 2 hours without reaching for their phone, helping ensure important moments never get missed.
Recordings are automatically synced to the Nothing X app, where users can replay, edit and generate transcripts. A privacy notification alerts participants whenever recording is active.
Listen better with Hi-Res Audio
At the heart of Ear (3a) is a new 12 mm dynamic driver designed to deliver deeper bass and greater detail. The larger driver moves more air, producing bass frequencies up to 5 dB stronger than the previous generation, while a lightweight aerospace-inspired PMI diaphragm reproduces clear, detailed highs.
Certified for Hi-Res Audio Wireless and supporting LDAC, Ear (3a) enables high-quality audio transmission up to 24-bit/96 kHz, ensuring music remains rich, balanced and true to the original recording. Users can further personalise their listening experience through Advanced EQ in the Nothing X app, with an 8-band equaliser and profile sharing capabilities.
Static Spatial Audio expands traditional stereo sound into a wider, more immersive soundstage, making films, live performances and everyday listening feel more engaging.
Ignore the boring bits with Wideband Active Noise Cancellation
Ear (3a) delivers up to 45 dB of Wideband Active Noise Cancellation, helping users stay focused wherever they are. Improvements to the acoustic mesh and ANC algorithm enable stronger noise reduction across a broader frequency range, particularly between 400 Hz and 2000 Hz where much of everyday environmental noise occurs. Overall noise cancellation coverage has improved by 17.1% compared to the previous generation.
For situations where awareness is important, Transparency Mode allows outside sounds back in naturally. Three microphones on each earbud work alongside an AI-powered noise reduction system to ensure voices remain clear during calls, even in busy environments, crowded trains or windy streets.
Striking design meets comfort
The redesigned charging case takes inspiration from pill packets and shrink-wrapped forms, creating a rounder, friendlier silhouette that feels as playful as it looks. Earbuds retain Nothing’s iconic transparent aesthetic while introducing refined details and improved ergonomics, including a new XS ear tip size for a more comfortable fit across a wider range of users.
The charging case also features a refined 1×3 LED status light, allowing users to quickly understand battery levels, charging status, pairing progress and other key system information at a glance.

Ear (3a) delivers up to 10 hours of playback on the earbuds and up to 42 hours in total with the charging case when ANC is disabled. With ANC enabled, it delivers up to 6 hours on the earbuds and up to 25 hours in total with the charging case. When power runs low, a quick five-minute charge provides approximately one hour of playback.
Control how you listen with Nothing X
The Nothing X app unlocks advanced personalisation features including EQ tuning, profile sharing, firmware updates and Find My Earbuds. Ear (3a) also integrates with Nothing smartphones, providing quick access to ChatGPT and Essential News for hands-free productivity and personalised daily updates.
