Lung King Heen Presents Artisanal Dragon Boat Festival Rice Dumplings

April 29, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, the fragrance of bamboo leaves once again heralds the arrival of one of the year’s most cherished culinary traditions. At Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong’s two-Michelin-starred Lung King Heen, Executive Chinese Chef Chan Yan Tak and his team present a thoughtfully composed trilogy of artisanal rice dumplings, each a study in patience, precision and considered ingredient selection.

Pre-orders are open now through June 18, 2026 on the Hotel’s eShop, with early bird savings of up to 25% available until May 17, 2026.

A Trilogy of Flavours

The collection opens with the Organic Glutinous Grain Rice Dumpling with Abalone and Conpoy — a celebration of abundance, generously composed of two South African abalones, roasted goose, pork, shiitake mushrooms, salted egg yolk, lotus seeds, chestnuts, mung beans and premium sweet ham. In place of traditional glutinous rice, Chef Chan selects organic ten-grain rice, lending both heightened nutrition and a more layered texture.

From abundance, the journey turns inward with the Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Peanuts, Pelted Wheat, Lotus Seed Paste & Osmanthus, a quiet act of nostalgia inspired by a beloved bowl of traditional barley and peanut sweet soup. Its lotus seed paste filling is coaxed into a gentle, flowing centre that reveals itself when warmed, while the pelted wheat and peanuts lend a distinctive bite — finished with a drizzle of osmanthus honey, light, floral and unhurried.

The trilogy closes with a more contemporary expression in the Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Conpoy, Pork Belly, Red Bean & Spicy Termite Mushroom, where mountain meets sea. Yunnan’s deeply aromatic termite mushrooms are paired with high-fibre red beans, prized conpoy and tender pork belly, with a gentle whisper of spice for depth — earthy notes meeting the quiet perfume of glutinous rice and bamboo leaves in beautiful balance.

For those seeking a more complete experience, Chef Chan’s artisanal dumplings are available in two thoughtfully curated combination sets with tea. The accompanying Chinese tea “Oriental Red”, with its clear amber hue and delicate fragrance, offers a smooth, lingering sweetness that gently refreshes the palate. Renowned for its ability to aid digestion, the tea is a thoughtful complement to the richness of the dumplings.
