The Perfect Family Escape: A Dreamy Staycation at DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside

October 12, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In the search for that exclusive family getaway that truly offers something for everyone—a blend of relaxation for parents, unbridled fun for children, and shared moments of connection—our search ended just a short drive from the city.

Our recent 2-day, 1-night staycation at the DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside was not just a break from routine; it was a masterclass in family-friendly hospitality, thoughtfully designed to create lasting memories from the moment we stepped into the lobby.

The experience begins with their now-famous signature: a warm, chocolate chip cookie presented at check-in. This simple, sweet gesture immediately sets the tone, dissolving any travel weariness and replacing it with a sense of welcome. It’s a small detail that speaks volumes, hinting at the attentive and warm experience that follows.

A Resort-Style Oasis with a View

Nestled along the serene banks of Putrajaya Lake, the hotel feels a world away from the city’s hustle, despite its convenient location. The ambiance is one of a lush, resort-style retreat. Our spacious room was a sanctuary of comfort, offering a stunning vista of the water. The plush bedding and quiet atmosphere ensured a restful night’s sleep for the adults, while the kids were thrilled with the novelty of a “home away from home” that felt both cozy and exciting.

Fun for All Ages: Splashes and Strolls

The true highlight for any family will undoubtedly be the recreational facilities. While parents can unwind by the main pool, the dedicated children’s pool is the epicenter of joy. The sound of laughter is constant here, as kids splash and play in a safe, shallow area designed just for them. It provided hours of entertainment, allowing them to burn off energy while we relaxed nearby.

As the afternoon sun mellowed, we embarked on an evening stroll to explore the iconic bridges and breathtaking lake views that Putrajaya is famous for. The well-maintained pathways right by the hotel make for an easy and picturesque walk. Watching the city’s architectural marvels, like the Seri Wawasan Bridge, light up against the twilight sky was a beautiful, shared family moment that required no planning or additional cost—just time together.

A Culinary Journey at Makan Kitchen

A staycation is incomplete without memorable meals, and the hotel’s Makan Kitchen delivered an exceptional experience. The dinner buffet was a mouthwatering feast, a vibrant celebration of local and international flavours.

From authentic Malaysian classics like rendang and satay to a selection of Western and Asian dishes, the variety ensured even the pickiest eaters in the family found something to love. The live cooking stations added a theatrical element, and the quality of the food truly brought the flavours to life, making dinner a central event of our stay.

The Verdict: A Getaway That Truly Ticks All the Boxes

What makes the DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside stand out is its seamless balance. It provided the relaxation we, as parents, desperately needed, while offering non-stop fun for the children. The combination of the kid-friendly pool, the engaging environment, the delicious food, and the beautiful surroundings created the perfect recipe for family bonding.

This staycation was more than just a night in a hotel; it was a reminder to slow down and connect. For families in the Klang Valley looking for a quick escape that feels both special and effortless, the DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside is an destination we can recommend with wholehearted enthusiasm. It’s a place where laughter comes easily, and the only item on the itinerary is togetherness.
