The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia Celebrates National Pride with Familiar Favorites Reimagined

September 10, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

This Merdeka season, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia invites Malaysians to celebrate national pride through the flavors that feel like home. Showcasing a range of seasonal creations inspired by beloved local tastes, CBTL brings a fresh twist to familiar favorites — blending tradition and innovation in every cup and every bite. More than just seasonal indulgences, these offerings are about rekindling connections, evoking fond memories, and creating moments of joy that Malaysians can share together.

“There is no better way to celebrate the spirit of Malaysia than through the flavors we all know and love. Here at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia, we believe a true celebration of our nation begins with the tastes that bring us together.” says Datuk M. Amar Shah, DPSM, Managing Director of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia. “From the first cup we served 28 years ago to the one you hold today, our goal has always been to create spaces where community and culture can come together. This year, we wanted to honor that connection with flavors that not only taste like Malaysia but feel like home, a celebration of our roots, our creativity, and the pride we share as a nation.”

The star of the season, the Pandan Gula Melaka Series, is our love letter to Malaysia in a cup, with creamy coconut, fragrant pandan, and deep, caramel richness of gula Melaka. Whether you like it hot, iced, or as a Macchiato, it is a flavor trip that feels both comfortingly familiar and refreshingly new. Paying homage to Malaysia’s culinary heritage with a modern twist, it is the perfect way to savor a taste of national pride.

Pair your brew with seasonal gourmet creations crafted to complement the Pandan Gula Melaka Series. Indulge in the Pandan Gula Melaka Tiramisu for Two, a fan-favorite dessert with a new, local twist layered with a Coconut Gula Melaka Crème Crown, which is exclusively available with the Pandan Gula Melaka Tiramisu for Two only, or savor the Pistachio Kunafa for Two, where crisp, golden pastry threads meet a smooth, nutty filling. Perfectly paired with our seasonal beverages, they capture the spirit of Brew-mula, celebrating flavors that connect us and moments worth sharing.

The celebrations extend beyond the cup with special Merdeka-themed merchandise that adds a touch of festivity to the season. This year, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia introduces the exclusive Batik Tote Bag. A stylish and practical accessory that celebrates local heritage with a modern flair. Designed with everyday versatility in mind, it’s the perfect companion for coffee runs, weekend outings, or simply showcasing your national pride. Available from 16th  September onwards in limited quantities, the Batik Tote Bag will only be around while stocks last, so be sure to get yours when it drops.

Adding to the celebration, customers can also enjoy their favorite beverages in special-edition Merdeka Hot Cups, designed as a heartfelt tribute to Malaysia’s rich culture and spirit of unity. More than just a design, these cups carry a message of pride and togetherness, a reminder that every sip is part of a bigger story we share as a nation.

As the season unfolds, look forward to new creations inspired by nostalgic Malaysian favorites, including the Bandung Lychee – a playful nod to a beloved local taste with a refreshingly modern twist, and Kek Batik – a sweet slice of heritage reimagined for today. Together, these seasonal offerings mark a flavor-filled celebration that captures the nation’s spirit, blending the comfort of tradition with the excitement of something new.
