Ho Meal @ Selayang Jaya: Delicious Malacca Style Chicken Ball Rice

October 19, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Nestled within the residential enclave of Taman Selayang Jaya, Ho Meal welcomes diners with its airy open-space dining area adorned with simple wooden furnishings and dotted with greenery. The ambiance is kept comfortable with both ceiling and wall fans, creating a relaxed setting for patrons to enjoy their meals.

Ho Meal offers a menu featuring Melaka-style chicken rice balls served with either steamed or fried chicken, alongside other options like Pandan Rice Nasi Lemak paired with fried chicken or Masak Merah Chicken. Additionally, guests can choose from a selection of à la carte dishes such as Masak Merah Eggs, Bean Sprouts, Masak Merah Lady Finger, Pork Ball Soup, and Fried Egg.

A standout offering is the Twin Set, which includes a steamed chicken whole leg, a fried chicken whole leg, rice balls, bean sprouts, pork ball soup, and drinks. For beverages, they serve Fresh Lemon Tea and Sweet Osmanthus Tea.

Food is prepared fresh to order, requiring a waiting time of approximately 10-20 minutes. The steamed chicken is tender with a thin, flavorful skin, while the fried chicken boasts a perfectly crispy exterior and juicy interior. Both are enhanced by a savory marinade and a fiery chili dipping sauce.

The rice balls are infused with chicken stock and ginger, offering a delightful pairing with the chili sauce. The meal is completed with crunchy bean sprouts and a standard yet satisfying pork ball soup.

Ho Meal provides a wallet-friendly dining experience with decent fare, making it a recommended choice for locals and visitors alike seeking flavorful meals in Selayang.
