The Dulang Set @ Makan Kitchen, Double Tree By Hilton Penang

July 5, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

During our staycation at the DoubleTree by Hilton Penang, we had the pleasure of experiencing the Dulang Set, a culinary journey that tantalized our taste buds with its exquisite offerings. The hotel presents three delectable options for the Dulang Set: Traditional Malay Cuisine, Thai Cuisine, and Peranakan Cuisine. Each set is thoughtfully curated to provide a rich and authentic dining experience.

We opted for the Peranakan Dulang Set, which is priced at RM 116 nett for two people. The set includes an array of delightful dishes such as Udang Sambal Baba Kampung Cheng, Asam Pedas Fillet Ikan Tenggiri, Hidang Bersama Bendi and Tomato organic, and steamed chicken with mushrooms. Each dish is meticulously prepared and beautifully presented in a traditional dulang, adding to the authenticity of the experience.

Udang Sambal Baba Kampung Cheng

The prawns in this dish are cooked to perfection, offering a burst of flavors in every bite. The freshness of the prawns combined with the rich, spicy sambal makes it a standout dish.

Asam Pedas Fillet Ikan Tenggiri

This dish features tender fillets of ikan tenggiri in a spicy and sour asam pedas sauce. The blend of spiciness and tanginess is perfectly balanced, making it a flavorful delight.

Steamed Chicken with Mushrooms

A dish that was a hit with both adults and children, the steamed chicken with mushrooms is tender and full of flavor. The chicken is cooked to perfection, and the mushrooms add an earthy richness to the dish.

Kerabu Kacang Botol

This winged bean salad is served with bunga kantan (torch ginger flower) and has a spicy kick. The crunchy beans and the fragrant bunga kantan create a refreshing and appetizing side dish.

The Peranakan Dulang Set at DoubleTree by Hilton Penang exceeded our expectations. Each dish was a testament to the culinary expertise and attention to detail that went into its preparation. The flavors were authentic and delicious, making every bite a memorable experience. And for the dulang set, it is advisable to book 4 hours in advance.
