Realme C65: An In-Depth Review of the Latest Entry-Level Budget Smartphone

July 4, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

In the ever-evolving world of smartphones, Realme has consistently aimed to provide top-notch devices at affordable prices. Their latest offering, the Realme C65, marks a significant milestone with its “Essential Plus” positioning, designed to deliver an unparalleled user experience in the entry-level segment. This essay explores the various aspects of the Realme C65, highlighting its design, performance, intelligent features, and overall value proposition. Additionally, it’s recognized by TÜV Rheinland for a 48-Monthly Fluency Rating, ensuring long-term performance.

Design and Build

The Realme C65 showcases a simple yet elegant design. It is slim and comfortable to hold, weighing in at 185 grams. At just 7.64mm thick, it boasts the thinnest body in its price range, offering an easy and comfortable grip. This remarkable slimness is achieved through the optimization of internal components and the use of high-energy-density batteries and stronger aluminum materials. The phone’s “Shining Starlight Design” features a dual texture that adds a unique and sophisticated look. This design is not just about aesthetics but also about providing a premium feel in the user’s hand. The back of the device features a glossy glass panel available in two colors: Starlight Purple and Starlight Black.

The Realme branding is subtly placed on the lower left of the device. Surprisingly, the back panel is relatively resistant to smudges, though using the included case is advisable for added protection.

On the upper left of the back panel, users will find three camera sensors and an LED flash, although the phone is equipped with only dual-rear cameras. The front of the device features a display panel with a punch-hole camera.

The power switch and volume rocker are located on the right side of the phone, while the left side houses the dual nano-SIM card and dedicated microSD card slot. The power button doubles as a Dynamic Button and fingerprint scanner, allowing users to customize functions. The bottom of the phone includes a loudspeaker, a USB Type-C charging port, and a 3.5mm audio port.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Realme C65 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which ensures robust performance, especially for an entry-level device. This processor, combined with up to 16GB of Dynamic RAM, allows for seamless multitasking and smooth gaming experiences. The introduction of AI Boost mode further optimizes resource allocation, improving app launch times and enhancing overall system performance. This combination of hardware and software makes the C65 the first model in its price segment to receive the TÜV SÜD 48-month Fluency Certification, guaranteeing sustained smoothness over an extended period.

Performance Plus: Unmatched Smoothness

Intelligent Features for Everyday Convenience

Realme has integrated several intelligent features into the C65, making it a standout in its class. One of the most notable is Air Gestures, which allows users to interact with their phone without touching it. This feature is particularly useful in scenarios where the user’s hands might be wet or dirty. Additionally, the Raindrop Smart Touch functionality ensures that the screen remains responsive even when covered with water droplets. The Dynamic Button provides customizable shortcuts, enhancing daily convenience, while the Smart Code Scan feature simplifies QR code interactions, supporting various payment applications across different regions. These features collectively enhance the user experience, making the C65 a versatile companion for everyday life.

Network and Connectivity

The Realme C65 supports comprehensive connectivity options, including 2G, 3G, 4G networks, ensuring high-speed internet access. It features Dual SIM functionality, allowing the use of two numbers simultaneously. Wireless connectivity support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks for stable internet connections. Bluetooth 5.0 provides a reliable connection to various devices like headphones and speakers.

For navigation, the Realme C65 includes multiple systems: GPS / GLONASS / GALILEO / Beidou/ QZSS, ensuring accurate location tracking. The phone also features a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer and a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio connectivity.

Camera Quality

The Realme C65’s camera setup is impressive for its price range. The 50MP primary sensor captures detailed and vibrant photos in good lighting conditions, making it suitable for casual photography enthusiasts. In daylight, the camera performs admirably, producing images with good color accuracy and dynamic range.

However, the camera’s performance in low-light scenarios is less impressive. While it captures usable shots, they lack the sharpness and clarity found in well-lit environments. Night photography is not the phone’s strongest suit but is adequate for the budget segment.

Battery and Charging

The Realme C65 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging. This combination ensures extended usage times and quick recharging when needed. The 45W SuperVOOC wired fast charging technology minimizes downtime and enhances convenience.

The battery’s substantial capacity ensures it lasts through a day of heavy usage. The inclusion of a USB Type-C port for charging aligns with modern standards, providing a versatile and user-friendly charging experience. For more information: https://www.realme.com/my/realme-c65

Memory and Storage

The Realme C65 offers ample memory and storage options. It comes in 8G RAM. Storage comes with 256GB of internal space. The dedicated microSDXC slot allows for up to 2TB of additional memory, making the Realme C65 a versatile choice for users needing extra space.

The device also features 16GB Dynamic RAM, dynamically allocating memory to optimize multitasking and ensure smooth operation even with multiple apps running.

Reliable Quality for Long-Term Use

The Realme C65 is built to last, adhering to stringent quality standards. It boasts TÜV Low Blue Light certification, ensuring that the screen is gentle on the eyes, even during prolonged use. The phone’s battery life is equally impressive, maintaining over 80% capacity after 1600 charge cycles, which translates to reliable performance for up to four years. The IP54 water resistance rating further protects the device against liquid splashes and dust, making it durable in various conditions. Additionally, the Ultra-linear speaker with 200% UltraBoom ensures an immersive audio experience, whether listening to music or watching videos.

Conclusion

The Realme C65 is a robust entry-level budget smartphone that offers a solid performance, comprehensive connectivity options, an impressive camera setup for its price range, and ample memory and storage. Its design is sleek and user-friendly, and the battery and charging capabilities ensure extended usage and quick recharging. With its competitive features and affordable price, the Realme C65 is an excellent choice for users looking for a reliable and efficient smartphone.
