3 Days 2 Night Family Staycation at Double Tree by Hilton Penang

July 1, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

During our recent trip to Penang, we decided to treat ourselves to a luxurious staycation at the DoubleTree by Hilton Penang, perfectly situated near the picturesque Batu Ferringhi. This resort offered a serene escape and proved to be the ultimate destination for our family, providing a blend of relaxation and excitement without the need to venture out.

Upon our arrival, the welcoming atmosphere was palpable. We were greeted with the hotel’s signature DoubleTree Cookies, which were a hit with the kids and a delightful treat for us adults as well. The cookies were warm, fresh, and incredibly delicious, setting a perfect tone for our stay. Additionally, we were offered a refreshing Nutmeg Mocktail, capturing the unique essence of Penang with its soothing and invigorating flavors.

Our room for the three-day, two-night stay was nothing short of spectacular. The spacious and cozy room was ideal for our family of four, featuring a comfortable additional bed for Grace, a luxurious bathtub, and a private balcony. The living area provided ample space for the kids to enjoy movies and play games, while I could indulge in some much-needed quiet time. The beds were plush and inviting, ensuring we all enjoyed a restful sleep each night.

The bathroom was well-equipped with essential toiletries, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Guests could request additional toiletries as needed, minimizing waste. The use of the premium brand Crabtree and Evelyn for toiletries and soap added a touch of luxury that I absolutely adored.

Our culinary journey at the DoubleTree by Hilton Penang was a highlight of our stay. In the evenings, we enjoyed light bites at the lounge, where tapas, snacks, and unlimited drinks were served. The relaxed ambiance allowed us to unwind while the kids played nearby. We cherished these moments of tranquility, savoring the view and the delicious food.

One of the most memorable experiences was our in-room dining. We relished dishes like Aglio Olio Pasta, Hainanese Chicken Chop, mushroom soup, and fresh salads, all delivered directly to our room. This convenience was perfect for the kids, allowing Yuuki to nap and eat whenever she woke up. It was a unique dining experience that let us enjoy our meals in the comfort of our room.

The second day of our staycation was filled with fun and relaxation. The kids had an absolute blast at the pool and playroom. The playroom offered a cozy environment with various activities, including reading, sliding, and coloring, keeping the kids entertained for hours.

For lunch, we treated ourselves to the Nasi Dulang promotion (Nyonya Style) at the Makan Kitchen. The meal was a culinary delight, featuring a superb spread of local delicacies. Each dish was meticulously prepared, offering a true taste of Penang’s rich culinary heritage.

In the afternoon, we visited Teddyville, a unique and educational attraction where kids could learn about the history of teddy bears and Penang. The interactive zones and educational displays made it a fun and informative experience for everyone. The kids loved taking pictures with the various teddy bears and learning about their significance.

Our evening concluded with a delightful dinner at the Makan Kitchen. The restaurant offered an impressive ala-carte menu, and each dish we tried was superb. The quality and presentation of the food were top-notch, providing a perfect end to our day.

On our final day, we continued to enjoy the hotel’s amenities. The kids spent more time in the pool and playroom, while we savored the last moments of our stay. The hotel’s relaxing atmosphere and excellent service made it hard to leave. Before checking out, we indulged in one last meal at the Makan Kitchen, enjoying their exquisite breakfast spread. The variety and quality of the food were impressive, offering something for everyone in the family.

After a memorable three-day staycation, we reluctantly bid farewell to DoubleTree by Hilton Penang. The entire experience was fantastic, providing a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and culinary delight. We left with fond memories and a desire to return for another staycation in the future. The hotel’s excellent service, luxurious accommodations, and delightful dining experiences made it a staycation to remember.
