Union Bistrot @ TRX Exchange: A Culinary Journey Through the Curiosity Menu

May 23, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Union Bistrot is thrilled to announce its grand opening on May 9, 2024, at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Mall, Malaysia’s International Financial Centre (IFC). This much-anticipated launch promises to elevate Kuala Lumpur’s culinary scene with a unique blend of local heritage and global cuisine. Union Bistrot aims to redefine dining experiences, offering a sophisticated and innovative menu that appeals to the most discerning palates.

Innovative Dining Concept

Union Bistrot introduces a novel concept in dining with its Curiosity Menu, which uses only emojis to represent its dishes.

This creative approach encourages diners to embark on a culinary adventure, discovering the intricate flavors and ingredients behind each symbol. The Curiosity Menu, priced at RM238 per person, features three different courses tailored to diverse preferences:

  • Chef’s Kiss: Ideal for surf-and-turf lovers, featuring crab and duck.
  • Earth’s Lover: Vegetarian- and vegan-friendly options.
  • Mindblown: Centered around chicken and fish, offering a delightful mix of flavors.

And for us we had the Mindblown Menu which is centered around chicken and fish

Amuse Bouche: Satay Croquette

Our meal began with the Satay Croquette, a delightful amuse-bouche that set the tone for the evening. This dish features tender fish coated in a crunchy exterior, served with a rich and flavorful peanut sauce. Each bites is divinely good where the satay sauce is thick and each mouthful is heavenly.

MPW Gold Standard Fish Pie

Next, we were served the MPW Gold Standard Fish Pie, a luxurious interpretation of a traditional dish. The beautifully presented dish comes with the  chunks of fish enveloped in a creamy white sauce. It is presented alike maki and every mouthful is sinfully good.

Sweet Basil Granita

Before moving on to the main course, we cleansed our palates with the Sweet Basil Granita.

Main Course: Crispy Red Snapper

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Crispy Red Snapper. This dish features perfectly cooked, tender, and flaky fish with a crispy skin. The snapper is paired with deep-fried tapioca, adding a delightful crunch and unique texture to the plate. The combination of flavors and textures in this dish truly exemplifies the innovative spirit of Union Bistrot’s culinary team.

Affogato

Our dining experience concluded with a classic Italian dessert, Affogato. This simple yet sophisticated dessert consists of a scoop of creamy vanilla gelato “drowned” in a shot of hot espresso. The contrasting temperatures and flavors create a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness, providing a satisfying end to our meal.

Overall, the dining is simply impressive. For those who are looking for some cosy and yet adventurous menu, this is definitely the place to visit
