PLAYMADE OPENS 1ST HANDMADE BOBA TEA CAFE

November 20, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

PlayMade is proud to announce the grand opening of its first Malaysian store in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. Since its inception in 2017, PlayMade has captivated the hearts and taste buds of boba tea enthusiasts with its imaginative approach to crafting exceptional bubble tea concoctions and uniquely-flavoured bobas that are made fresh in store. In conjunction with their launch in Malaysia, the brand has also introduced a new all-day food menu and delectable dessert selections to complement their signature tea beverages specifically for their expansion journey into Malaysia.

The fun-loving brand is set to elevate the local culinary scene with a fresh take on the boba cafe experience. To bring customers closer to the artistry of bubble tea, the colourful store will feature PlayMade’s signature kitchen studio where customers can witness the live creation of these tapioca balls from flour to boba – handcrafted to a specific 1 cm diameter to ensure every bite delivers the delightful flavour and texture they are known for.

The store design, reflecting the brand’s playful and colourful origins, features vibrant rainbow swirls against a pink-hued backdrop providing a warm and welcoming invitation to the brand’s whimsical realm. It seeks to captivate customers from all walks of life, inviting them to step into this creative and imaginative world.

PlayMade’s passion for creating magical moments is reflected in their extensive all-day menu, inspired by Korean and other trending asian cuisine that pair perfectly with their tea beverages Whether you are seeking a light meal with their O’ Toast over a chill gathering session with family and friends, or seeking the perfect snack to satisfy your cravings on the go, PlayMade has offerings for every occasion. Notably, the brand is known for its for its commitment to creating fresh, preservative-free bobas with bold and delightful flavours. They have introduced over 30 unique boba flavours, including Spicy Mala and limited seasonal tri-colored bobas in Singapore, which garnered a strong following. Their top-selling Pink Cactus boba, known for its light fruity taste and floral scent, makes its debut in Malaysia, adding a unique twist to their menu offerings. Customers can enjoy it as a boba topping or add it to the Pink Cactus Smoothie. PlayMade is also offering a local-exclusive Pink Cactus Soft Serve for a refreshing and convenient perk-me-up dessert.

“We are excited to start our journey in Malaysia. Our brand’s adventurous spirit continues to drive us to create innovative flavours that will pique customers’ curiosity. Malaysia’s diverse culinary landscape offers endless possibilities. Committed to bring the best of what we can offer, our R&D team, helmed by PlayMade’s other co-founder, Crystal Wee, orchestrated a closed-invite tasting session for the locals here months ahead to ensure that the tastes are adjusted wherein necessary, whilst keeping to the true essence of the PlayMade’s handcrafted experience using natural ingredients. With plans for a second store in the pipeline for early December, we endeavour to infuse Malaysia’s colourful culinary food culture with our playful creativity.” said Amanda Poo, Co-Founder and Managing Director of PlayMade.
