At the Table with Italian Cuisine: Well-being with Taste – The 8th Edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2023 Unveils in Malaysia

November 20, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

The vibrant celebration of true Italian taste and heritage is set to take centre stage as the 8th Edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2023 approaches. Organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, this global event will sweep across more than 100 countries from November 13th to 19th, 2023. The theme for this year is “At the table with Italian cuisine: well-being with taste.”

In Malaysia, this culinary show is presented by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (ITALCHAM). The primary objective of this initiative is twofold: to showcase Italian culinary traditions as a hallmark of the Italy brand and to simultaneously boost exports in the agri-food sector while promoting tourism associated with food and wine itineraries.

The Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia, H.E. Massimo Rustico expressed, “The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is a great opportunity for all of us to come together, explore, and indulge in the rich variety of Italian food. It’s not just a culinary event; it’s a moment of cultural exchange that brings Italy and Malaysia even closer.”

He also mentioned, “This event not only delights our taste buds but also highlights the profound significance of the Italian cuisine. It’s a celebration of flavours that extends far beyond the palate. It’s a testament to the holistic approach of Italian culinary traditions, where the pursuit for delicious food aligns perfectly with well-being. It’s about savouring not just a meal, but an experience that nurtures our bodies and connects our souls, and we’re excited to share this remarkable journey with the Malaysian community.”

Malaysians will get to experience this culinary extravaganza, that aims to promote cultural exchange, sustainable practices, and authentic flavours of Italy. Italian cuisine serves as a bridge that connects people and cultures, and this event invites Malaysians to experience the magic of Italian gastronomy.

At the heart of the campaign lie several key goals. First is the aim to introduce consumers to the real worth of truly authentic Italian ingredients, emphasizing their strong regional roots. The campaign passionately wants to educate food enthusiasts on the effective use of genuine Italian ingredients, ensuring they not only enjoy great flavours but also promote their own well-being.

In the spirit of Italian cuisine, the campaign is all about fostering togetherness, sustainability, and innovation. These principles aren’t just buzzwords; they are at the core of what makes Italian food special.

The Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia, H. E. Massimo Rustico introduced the two masterful chefs set to take centre stage during this remarkable event at the Italian Ambassador’s Residence on November 9th, 2023. He stated “Today, we are truly honoured to introduce two food Maestros from the acclaimed ‘Aldo Moro’ Professional Institute for Food, Wine, and Hotel Hospitality Services of Santa Cesarea, Ms. Patrizia Esposito and Mr. Antonio Rizzo.”

“Their artistry in the kitchen is proof of the Institute’s legacy, which began in 1967 and has since evolved into an institution that shapes the future of professionals in the tourism sector. Through this captivating cooking demonstration, we invite you to experience their expertise and witness their cooking magic they bring from Italy to Malaysia.”

Lastly, the campaign is committed to support and promote genuine Italian restaurants in Malaysia. These culinary gems bring the authentic taste of Italy right to one’s doorstep, bridging the gap between cultures and letting one experience the enchantment of Italian food right here in Malaysia.

As the ‘Week of Italian Cuisine in the World’ unfolds, Malaysians can eagerly anticipate a lineup of exciting events:
