The Murray, Hong Kong has garnered the Best Historic Hotels Worldwide Hotel in Asia Pacific at 2022 Historic Hotels Worldwide Annual Awards of Excellence

November 23, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

The Murray, Hong Kong is proud to be awarded as the “Best Historic Hotels Worldwide Hotel in Asia/Pacific” at the 2022 Historic Hotels Worldwide Annual Awards of Excellence in Alabama, the United States on 17 November 2022 (Thursday), in the presence of more than 200 industry leaders, owners, senior management, and representatives of the finest historic hotels in operation today. It is the 33rd award the hotel has achieved in the last five years since its grand opening.

Historic Hotels Worldwide® is a prestigious and distinctive collection of more than 320 historic hotels in more than 46 countries, including luxury historic hotels built in former castles, chateaus, palaces, academies, haciendas, villas, monasteries, and other historic lodging spanning ten centuries. Each year, the Historic Hotels Awards of Excellence recognise and celebrate the finest historic hotels and hoteliers from around the world that best represent its history in the guest experience and provides exceptional customer hospitality and service.

“It is our great pleasure to be a part of the Historic Hotels and to preserve the rich heritage and culture behind the Murray Building,” said Mr. Ken Law, Director of Sales and Marketing of The Murray, Hong Kong. “I would like to thank my team for the great effort, as well as the continuous support from our loyal clients and guests. We would have never achieved this honour and stand out among the competitors without their contribution and endorsement.”

Originally built in 1969 as a government office complex, the Murray Building was designed by British architect Ron Philips. Considered innovative at that era with the introduction of recessed windows that shelter the interior from the sun, thus moderating the use of air-conditioning, this pioneering sustainable and energy-saving solution has won the building numerous energy-efficient design awards. Philips was invited by Foster+Partners to transform his art piece into a luxury five-star hotel, celebrating the past and future of the building and vibrant city. On top of the “Five-star Hotel Award” by Forbes Travel Guide 2022 and the “Best City Hotel – Hong Kong” by TTG Travel Awards 2022, the latest award by Historic Hotels Worldwide further acknowledged Niccolo Hotels’ philosophy of providing contemporary chic hospitality and memorable experience to all guests.

Mr. Law added, “With the historical background and stylish facilities in the hotel, we are looking forward to seeing The Murray become the hub of art and culture in the heart of Hong Kong. Our ultimate goal is to bring new encounters and timeless pleasures to all our guests, in this truly unique and magnificent building.”
