“Nestlé Malaysia Donates RM200,000 to Malaysian Red Crescent Society to support relief efforts ahead of the Monsoon Season”

November 4, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

In line with the Company’s ongoing efforts to support the community through its Social Responsibility programs, Nestlé Malaysia has contributed a donation of RM200,000 to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS). This aims to help in the preparation of MRCS to support families that might be affected by the upcoming monsoon season.

This contribution to MRCS includes RM100,000 cash donation to purchase family hygiene kits. Each hygiene kit will consist of a one-month supply of toothbrushes, toothpaste, detergent, towels, disposable shavers, sanitary pads, toilet rolls, soap, as well as a water bucket and a water scoop. Alongside the hygiene kits, Nestlé also contributed RM100,000 worth of Nestlé food products to be allocated by MRCS to vulnerable communities.

Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, said, “We are always thankful for the love and support of Malaysians for our brands and we feel very obliged to give back some of that love by being actively involved in relief efforts to help families in need. The Malaysian Red Crescent Society does an extraordinary job in assisting vulnerable communities and we want to support their preparation efforts ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.”

“Indeed, we know that the monsoon season, and the associated risk of floods, is often a challenging period for many families living in flood-exposed areas. We are inspired by the work of MRCS to protect and serve the needs of these vulnerable communities. Ours is a small contribution to these efforts, and we would like to invite other organisations and Malaysians to contribute to strengthen this solidarity network.”

Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Chairperson of MRCS, said, “We are pleased to receive this generous donation from Nestlé and we are grateful that they are taking this meaningful step as a responsible business to support Malaysians. Indeed, providing care and relief assistance to at risk and vulnerable communities requires collective effort, and Nestlé’s contribution will certainly help us achieve this goal.”

Reflecting Nestlé Malaysia’s long-standing commitment to help those in need, the Company had previously contributed RM1.2 million to MRCS for the upgrade of emergency medical equipment in their ambulances in 2020. Over the years, Nestlé Malaysia has also collaborated in various initiatives with MRCS including regular food & beverage supplies during the monsoon seasons, and COVID-19 relief efforts for frontliners and affected communities during the pandemic.
