Village Grocer Now Expanding in the Northern Region – 21st store at City Junction, 22nd store at Queens Waterfront and 23rd store at 1st Avenue, Penang

The Food Purveyor (TFP), the premium grocery operator of Village Grocer has opened three new stores in Penang, their latest store in 1st Avenue Mall opens on 12th July following on from Village Grocer City Junction soft-launched in June 2021, and Village Grocer Queens Waterfront soft-launching in April 2022.

Geoff King, CEO of The Food Purveyor said “It’s been a long-awaited celebration. Penangites, get ready as Village Grocer is making a big splash across the town. We are combining the celebration of our 18th years anniversary in the retail industry with the official opening of 2 stores (Village Grocer Queens Waterfront and Village Grocer 1st Avenue), AND celebrating the first anniversary at Village Grocer City Junction mall – all within a week!! Loads of exciting rewards, deals and promotions have been lined up during the campaign period from 11th July – 7th August to celebrate this birthday bash.”
He further added, “Why Penang? Penang is synonymous in Malaysia for great food and a real melting pot of different cultures. Our stores now serve the customers in the north, the centre and to east areas of Penang Island.” 
The grocery store’s produce section consists of fruits & veggies locally sourced from Cameron Highlands as well as freshly flown in from Australia, US, Japan, Korea, New Zealand. While the Meat section offers quality cuts from Australia and New Zealand, and Seafood section a wide variety of fish from local boats daily together with fresh salmon flown in directly from Norway. 
The Organic section has a wide range of organic food products, from pesticide-free veggies to a dedicated healthy living section with organic food products and products for variety dietary needs such as superfoods, vegan, plant-based products, gluten-free, and trendy protein supplements. While the vegetarian section offers an amazing assortment of foods including vegan, vegetarian and plant-based products in ambient, chilled and frozen ranges.
A huge assortment of International delights range from snacks to ice cream imported from many countries such as from New Zealand, Australia, UK, Belgium, Japan and Korea. 
Exclusive, trusted, and great-value house-brand products from Australia and Italy are brought in exclusively to Village Grocer. Australia’s Woolworths has over 200 SKUs of food and household products made to Australian standards at great prices; whilst Italy’s Fior Fiore is offering 100% made in Italy cooking condiments. Both brands offer a variety of great value choices without compromising the quality exclusively to Village Grocer.
In conjunction with Village Grocer 1st Avenue official opening, Village Grocer is having loads of contests, giveaways, roadshows, coupon deals and many other activities to thank our customers for the loyalty they show our brand. For new Bites Members there are sign-up offers worth more than RM50 in vouchers.
Among the exciting opening activities we are running, every customer can enjoy a RM10 discount with an e-voucher and receive a free Village Grocer re-usable bag with a minimum spend of RM100 (capped at 1,000 units), and a chance to win 2D1N staycation at Lexis Suites Penang.
TFP recently has been awarded the ESG Initiative of the Year – Malaysia award at the Retail Asia Awards 2022 in recognition for TFP’s efforts to redirect surplus food to combat hunger and food insecurity, support the underserved and vulnerable communities, and other corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
TFP also continues to raise awareness on environmental sustainability by championing it’s “Plastic Free by 2023” campaign. No single-use plastic bags are available at checkout counters, customers are encouraged to bring their own bag.
