Andaz Bali announces the appointment of the new Hotel Manager, Marc Walz, a seasoned hotelier with two decades experience in the Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in Germany, UAE, China, Vietnam and now Bali.
Hailing from a Food and Beverage background, the German native brings a wealth of expertise of luxury hotels, having worked at Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt, Park Hyatt and now Andaz. Marc was previously Hotel Manager at Park Hyatt Saigon, an award winning hotel in the heart of the capital. Andaz Bali will be his second resort to lead after Park Hyatt Sanya, China, where he was Hotel Manager in 2018 – 2020.
Having worked for 21 years for Hyatt, Marc underlines that it’s the people and culture that draws him the most. “The biggest pleasure from my job is hosting guests and mentoring the young hoteliers,” he says Hosting is Marc’s natural gift, having been raised in a warm, tight-knit family that owned a hotel and restaurant in Germany. His love for people is also what brings Marc to the island. “Balinese are among the kindest people I’ve met,” he adds.
As the Hotel Manager, Marc will oversee the day-to-day operations of the beachfront resort, which includes 127 rooms, 22 villas, five restaurants and four meeting rooms. “Andaz Bali is a wonderful addition to Sanur, with its strong modern-village concept and homely grounds that reflect Sanur’s character,” says Marc.
An avid collector of sneakers, Marc plays basketball in his spare time and keeps an eye on the latest in watch and sneakers trends.
