A Simmering Good Time with Diao Yu Tai

April 28, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

If there is something Malaysians just cannot get enough of, it is hotpot. There is something communal and convivial about sharing a simmering hotpot of goodness with friends and family. With over 1000 years of history rooted in ancient China, hotpot has seen the development of distinct regional variations and styles in which all are unique on their own while bringing people together. The popularity of hotpot is evidenced by the mushrooming of hotpot places in Klang Valley and looking to shake things up is the newest kid on the block, Diao Yu Tai Hotpot.

Serving an authentic Chengdu style of hotpot, Diao Yu Tai Hotpot is headed by Chef Reno Foong Keng Yew with an impressive 18 years of experience under his belt. Chef Reno’s specialty includes Chengdu Hotpot Cuisine, Cantonese Chinese Cuisine, and Szechuan Cuisine and by masterfully combining all his specialties, he has created a contemporary Asian fusion which is at the heart of Diao Yu Tai Hotpot Cuisine. Besides taking hotpot cuisine to the next level, Chef Reno is also a master at plating and ice sculpting, having raked up a collate of industry awards from ice art sculpture showcases from around the world.

Signature must-have dishes at Diao Yu Tai Hotpot are the Deep Fried Pork Belly, Glutinous Rice with Brown Sugar, Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Beef, Iberico Pork Belly, and the Homemade Fish Paste and Shrimp Paste which are Chef’s Specials. The essence of hotpot is in the flavourful broth in which raw ingredients are cooked in and hotpot lovers can choose from the Mala Soup, Pork Bone Soup, Tomato soup, and more as soup base before dipping into the special sauce, the Magic Hotpot Sauce or Secret Dry Plate Sauce for the complete simmering and mouth-watering hotpot experience.

Strategically located in Menara Lien Hoe in Petaling Jaya, Diao Yu Tai Hotpot is a visual marvel on its own with its zen-like aesthetic and simplicity blended in perfect harmony with contemporary elements resulting in harmony and flow. Sprawled across an impressive space of 9430 square feet, Diao Yu Tai Hotpot is a display of lavishness and abundance with traditional Chinese roof beams, round archways, screen dividers, and ornate decorations speckled in gold transporting people into a different time and place. What draws one’s eye to attention is perhaps the artificial blossoming peach tree in the courtyard for a true sense of Oriental ambiance and auspiciousness which makes an instagrammable spot.

With its spacious layout, Diao Yu Tai boasts 18 private rooms so you and your friends and family can enjoy the luxury of private dining and entertain the night away in the karaoke rooms. There are 10 KTV rooms which the 2 big rooms can accommodate large parties of 12-16 pax each while the 8 other smaller KTV rooms are suited for a more intimate group of 6-8 pax. All KTV rooms come equipped with state of the art sound systems where customers can opt for either the Sonos speaker, Karaoke or Central sound system for an overall wonderful dining experience.
