Six Senses Recognized with Eight Condé Nast Traveler’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards in Big Win for Resorts

October 7, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

Condé Nast Traveler today announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards with eight Six Senses resorts included in the list and two claiming the top spot: Six Senses Zighy Bay and Six Senses Bhutan.

More than 800,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to provide a snapshot about the places they can’t wait to return to next. The Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry.

Six Senses Zighy Bay, Oman: #1 Middle East – Resorts

Up two places from 2020, Six Senses Zighy Bay enjoys a prime position on Oman’s dramatic Musandam Peninsula, between rugged mountains and vibrant emerald waters. The village-inspired resort offers a range of accommodations, each with a private pool. With its eclectic dining and award-winning spa, this is also an otherworldly setting for unique experiences, starting with an arrival via paraglider. Following the reopening of Oman to tourism, Six Senses Zighy Bay is delighted to be welcoming guests from October 15, 2021.

Six Senses Bhutan: #1 Asia – Resorts

Up 16 places from 2020, Six Senses Bhutan is not so much a single resort as a spiritual and sensual journey through the western and central valleys of this colorful Himalayan Kingdom. The architecture and design of each of the five lodges reflect a particular aspect of Bhutan and offer guests new perspectives in what is described as the Happiest Place on Earth. Guests may visit a single lodge or tailor-make a journey to include Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang, and Paro. Six Senses Bhutan will reopen as soon as it possibly can.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam: #5 Asia – Resorts

A new listing for 2021, the quintessentially romantic Six Senses Ninh Van Bay treats guests to a white-sand beach and backdrop of towering mountains. Villas boast private pools and are located on the beach, over the water, between the rocks or perched on the mountainside. Ocean views over the impressive rock formations rising from the East Vietnam Sea are ubiquitous unless face-down enjoying a massage from skilled therapists in the spa.

Six Senses Kaplankaya, Turkey: #9 Europe – Resorts

Rounding out the top 10, Six Senses Kaplankaya offers a combination of seclusion, results-driven wellness and Mediterranean-inspired social community a stone’s throw from the region’s rich beauty and archaeological wonders. New in 2021, the Ridge Terrace Rooms and Family Rooms, with optional pools and roof terraces, offer uninterrupted and unique panoramas out to the Aegean Sea. Restaurants source freshly harvested vegetables, seafood, and specialty ingredients from artisan producers and the on-site organic garden.

Six Senses Laamu, Maldives (#11) and Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Seychelles (#24) were endorsed by readers in the Indian Ocean category. Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, China (#25) and Six Senses Douro Valley, Portugal (#36) won acclaim in the World category of Spa Resorts.

“The results of the 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards demonstrate how people are considering why and how they travel and the things they want to do first now they can. To have eight resorts recognized in this list makes us even more determined to deliver that wow-factor as we welcome our guests again,” said Six Senses Chief Executive Officer Neil Jacobs.

The 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards are published on Condé Nast Traveler’s website and celebrated in the November issue.
