THE LANGHAM, HONG KONG, LAUNCHES THE LEICA LEGEND AFTERNOON TEA

March 30, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

The Langham, Hong Kong, collaborates with German luxury camera brand, Leica Camera, to present the bespoke version of the afternoon tradition – The Leica Legend Afternoon Tea at The Langham, exclusively available at Palm Court from 1 April to 31 May 2021.

“Truly an art and photography gallery to stay in, The Langham, Hong Kong, houses an impressive collection of original photography works. Every floor of the hotel is marked by original or limited-edition art pieces, or photography works. Hence, this unique partnership is a further reflection of the hotel’s artistic philosophy,” said Marcel Holman, managing director of The Langham, Hong Kong.

While Leica is known for its well-designed and well-built cameras that are handmade in Germany, Palm Court is highly sought-after among afternoon tea lovers for its intricate pastries and cakes with perfectly executed flavours. The British quintessential afternoon tea has also been a brand signature at Langham hotels since 1865.

Encapsulating both brands’ creativity, The Leica Legend Afternoon Tea invites guests to indulge in Executive Pastry Chef, Jean-Marc Gaucher’s delicious sweet and savoury menu, and at the same time marvel at his artistic treats.

From the sweet selections, Chef Jean-Marc presents the following Leica-inspired delights such as the ‘M’ Grand Cru chocolate ganache cake, the legend profiterole with red berries, which is made from light vanilla cream and fresh berries in a choux.

Other camera-friendly creations include perfection, a matcha and red bean tart made with premium Uji matcha and Hokkaido Tokachi red beans, and the Leica museum Wetzlar black forest trifle, served in a shooter glass, which links back to Wetzlar, the birthplace of the Leica brand.

Savoury highlights include the crab quiche, the roasted beef roulade made from chilled roasted beef sirloin, gherkins, horseradish cream, the homemade foie gras with figs, and the salmon sandwich.

The ever-popular freshly baked scones paired with Devonshire clotted cream and preserves are presented in two flavours, the plain and raisin. The Leica Legend Afternoon Tea is best complemented with a fine selection of premium loose leaf JING Teas (HK$398*/person; HK$688*/two persons). For added indulgence, guests may opt for the Deluxe Menu which offers a glass of Taittinger Champagne (HK$588*/person; HK$888*/two persons).

The set is served from 1 April until 31 May 2021, on weekdays from 3:00 to 5:30p.m., and on weekends and public holidays in two sittings, from 2:15 to 4:15p.m., and 4:30 to 6:30p.m.

Enjoy up to 20% discount when purchasing online. For reservations or enquiries, please call 2132 7898 or email [email protected].

*All prices are subject to a 10% service charge; Easter period (2-5 April) only offers Deluxe Menu with Rose Prosecco (HK$458*/person; HK$758*/two persons) or Champagne (HK$588*/person; HK$888*/two persons)

Leica Photography Class

Photography enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that as part this collaboration, a weekly Leica photography class will be held during the two promotional months.

With the purchase of an afternoon tea set, guests will have the opportunity to register for a Leica photography class at a special rate of HK$300net per guest. Available on a first-come-first-served basis, only eight places are available for the weekly class, which will take place in The Langham, Hong Kong.

During the class, guests will have the opportunity to try out Leica cameras. Leica Akademie lecturer, Colin Lau will be on hand to coach and share on basic photography, composition and photography aesthetics. The classes will also introduce shooting examples of different Leica models corresponding to different shooting situations, and examples of food photography.

Colin Lau received his education in BFA Photography at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD HK). His work focusing on cityscape and scenery has been exhibited locally and in Shenzhen, and internationally, in the U.S, France and Japan. Prior to being a Leica Akademie lecturer, Colin was working at Magnum Photos on photo education projects.
