foodpanda reinforces precautionary measures in light of Covid-19

March 18, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

foodpanda has proactively implemented health and safety measures for employees, service partners and customers as the spread of COVID-19 continues to develop. Working together with the relevant health officials and following the WHO guidelines, foodpanda has ensured;

1. Health and safety guidelines have been followed
2. Service partners have been provided masks and sanitizer
3. Introducing contactless delivery.

As part of the continued commitment and adaptation to the latest restriction of movement policy, foodpanda have ensured all employees are informed to comfortably work from home on 17.03.2020; to further aid in the halting of the spread of the virus. As COVID-19 continues to spread with an increasing number of people being affected by the virus, foodpanda has unfortunately received confirmation that one of their employees from the corporate office has been tested positive for Covid 19. The employee has received immediate medical treatment and full support from foodpanda as well as wishes for a swift recovery.

With the confirmation, foodpanda wants to extend continued support to all those affected by making it compulsory for all employees in the corporate office to go for screening checks for COVID-19 and will reimburse all employees to ensure that everyone can be assured during this time with minimised stress. In line with commitment to ensuring all employees can receive adequate health care checks, foodpanda will also be implementing a deep clean within the corporate office and enforcing work from home until further notice.

“Our priority has and always will be the well being of our employees, riders, customers and restaurant partners. We want to ensure that all of our employees are safe and receive the care they need during this time, so we will cover all costs for any foodpanda employee to get tested for the virus. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are infected and we urge everyone to stay safe,” says Sayantan Das, Managing Director, foodpanda Malaysia.

In this time of uncertainty, foodpanda will ensure that all within the panda family are cared for, as well as have the necessary means to focus on their health. The rider recruitment office, rider hubs, shared service center as well as all business processing centers have not been impacted as these business functions are in a separate location from the corporate office. Within the rider team, there has been no suspected or confirmed cases. foodpanda also would like to add that they do not have a reason to believe that their wider business and customer communities have been impacted by this case. foodpanda will continue to monitor and keep all stakeholders updated on the development of COVID-19 to implement further measures as necessary.
