Launch of Capturing Water Conservation Through The Lens

June 14, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Capturing Water Conservation Through The Lens, a photo exhibition on water conservation was launched today at Royal Plaza on Scotts by guest of honour and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Masagos Zulkifli. The photo exhibition is a showcase of the winning entries from the Capturing Water Conservation Through The Lens Photo Contest held in conjunction with Singapore World Water Day 2019 and United Nations World Water Day. The photo exhibition will run from 14 June to 31 August at the lobby of Royal Plaza on Scotts.

Jointly organised by SSEAYP International Singapore (SIS), Japan Creative Centre (JCC), Embassy of Japan in Singapore, PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency and Royal Plaza on Scotts, Capturing Water Conservation Through The Lens is a photo contest and exhibition focusing on water conservation and waterways in Singapore. Supported by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and National Youth Council, the photo contest and exhibition aims to promote the importance of saving and sustaining water supply in a fun and artistic way. The contest was open to Singaporean youths and Japanese youths living in Singapore, between 13 to 35 years old.

At the launch, Mr Masagos placed emphasis on the importance of water security for Singapore and encouraged the public to play their part in water conservation.

“Managing our water usage is equally important to safeguard water security…This requires everyone to take ownership in conserving water through our daily habits, and community efforts in building greater awareness.”

General Manager and Chief Experience Officer of Royal Plaza on Scotts, Patrick Fiat, said: “The hotel is pleased to support the young talents for this meaningful cause. We hope that the exhibition will drive the awareness and importance of water conservation through the appreciation of photography.”

Starting this year, the lobby of Royal Plaza on Scotts has been home to artworks and exhibitions by artists and young talents in the region. In support of the arts, the hotel creates a space for these talents to showcase their works and share their passion with art enthusiasts and the public.
