MARRIOTT HOTELS IN HONG KONG SUPPORT WORLDWIDE EARTH HOUR MOVEMENT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT BY GOING DARK FOR ONE HOUR

Marriott hotels in Hong Kong will go dark for one hour on March 30th to shine a light on climate action in support of Earth Hour 2019. The hotels will join millions around the world in turning off their lights at 8:30 p.m. local time to illuminate a powerful message about environmental awareness and action. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) created the annual global environmental awareness event 12 years ago to emphasize the threat of climate change.
Marriott hotels in Hong Kong, including The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, W Hong Kong, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers, Le Méridien Cyberport, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong, Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong and Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong Sha Tin, will participate with a list of concerted efforts including the following:
Turn off all non-essential lighting at the back of the house area, offices as well as hotel facade*
Dim or turn off all non-essential lights in all restaurants and Executive Lounge*
Use candles as light in designated restaurants and bars*
Stop operation of selected escalators*
Encourage hotel guests to switch off unnecessary lights in the room or when out*
Encourage hotel guests to reduce usage of linen and laundry*
Encourage hotel guests to receive hotel folios by email*
Newspapers will only be available on request*
Complimentary internet access at the Business Centre for making WWF online donations*
