From now to 5 May 2019, Lobby Lounge at Conrad Hong Kong will be teaming up with this esteemed chocolate label in a new afternoon tea experience. Guests will be spoiled by a wide array of desserts with a special drink featuring Valrhona’s signature chocolates.
The sweets of the afternoon tea offer guests a degustation of various Grands Crus chocolates from Valrhona, turned into beautiful, sumptuous desserts. An elegant creation is Jivara 40% chocolate and cherry pound cake. The milk chocolate has a balanced character that blends well into the velvety pound cake, whose richness gets offset by the sweet-acidic cherry flavor. Opalys 33% chocolate and strawberry tart revisits one of the classic dessert pairings, with the white chocolate’s notes of milk and vanilla on full display. Admirers of darker cacao tastes cannot miss Alpaco 66% chocolate scone. Ecuadorean Alpaco is known for its subtle aromas, and the scone is a pure expression of such quality.
Among the other desserts, yuzu chocolate dome and raspberry chocolate madeleine are made with Valrhona’s newly debuted fruit couvertures “Yuzu Inspiration” and “Raspberry Inspiration”, which blend fruit flavors with the texture of chocolate using cacao butter. Both desserts boast an exuberant tartness that brings the guests’ taste buds to life. Completing the ensemble, Classic Chocolate Macaroon with Valrhona 66% Caraïbe Ganache marries two pillars of French gastronomy in one tidbit.
To match the desserts, the lineup of savory items carries a strong French accent. Smoked salmon mousse in profiterole emphasizes an airy texture and the exquisite umami of salmon. Leek and gruyere tartlet demonstrates a more indulgent taste with its buttery crust combined with a cheesy center. In homemade foie gras terrine, peach flavoured gel, the nutty notes of liver are enlivened by the sweet peach and perfume the mouth. The other sumptuous offerings include black forest ham with squid ink brioche, king prawn with tomato and pepper, and mini wagyu burger with tomato salsa.
The Valrhona afternoon tea will be served with a drink of the guests’ choice. Besides coffee and tea, Lobby Lounge has prepared a special beverage blue flower tea Celaya. Made with Valrhona signature chocolate drink with hints of earl grey tea and blue flower aroma, its smoothness and floral fragrance makes it the perfect drink for a breezy and satisfying afternoon.
The new afternoon tea menu is priced at HK$538* for two guests and HK$318* for a single serving. Each serving for two comes with a complimentary assorted chocolate gift box with six Valrhona’s signature chocolates, which guests can take home to enjoy and share.
