The Shilla Seoul Named Five-Star Hotel by Forbes Travel Guide 2019

February 21, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Forbes Travel Guide today unveiled its annual Star Rating list, naming The Shilla Seoul as a new Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel. The Shilla Seoul is the only hotel in Korea to receive this prestigious honor.

The flagship property of The Shilla Hotels & Resorts, The Shilla Seoul is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Taking its name from Korea’s ancient Shilla Dynasty – regarded as the most culturally prosperous period in history – the hotel was inspired by the elegance and achievements of the era. A leader in luxury hospitality services, The Shilla Seoul’s spectacular location in the heart of the city, impeccable service, and attention to detail contributed to the hotel’s latest accolade.

Set against a backdrop of Seoul’s modern skyscrapers and scenic mountains, The Shilla Seoul features 464 meticulously appointed guest rooms (including 38 suites) that have been crafted to the highest standards. The Shilla Seoul’s 2013 refurbishment was overseen by award-winning designer Peter M. Remedios, whose projects include Morpheus Macau, Mandarin Oriental Geneva, and Four Seasons New York.

As Korea’s most exclusive hotel, four decades of tradition and genuine service define The Shilla brand. The Shilla Seoul’s three Michelin-starred Korean restaurant – La Yeon – is renowned for its authentic menus that celebrate Korean culinary traditions with the finest ingredients and premium local produce.

“This is a tremendous achievement for our team at The Shilla Seoul, one we are extremely humbled and honored to receive,” says Cho Jung Wook, General Manager of The Shilla Seoul. “This prestigious award is a validation of our ongoing efforts to redefine luxury hospitality and lead the way with exceptional service, a commitment to detail and providing guests with unforgettable experiences.”

The Shilla Seoul is the latest addition to the luxury travel ratings that have been the gold standard in the hospitality industry since 1958.

“We are delighted to celebrate the 2019 Star Rating winners, an outstanding collection of hotels, restaurants and spas that demonstrate a strong culture of service,” says Filip Boyen, Chief Executive Officer of Forbes Travel Guide.

“In a time of information overload and fake reviews online, Forbes Travel Guide is the ultimate trusted source in luxury travel. Our objective, data-driven Star Rating list features properties that achieved an impeccable standard of excellence in hospitality. We congratulate everyone associated with the prestigious properties recognized today.”

A total of 1695 hotels, restaurants and spas inspected by Forbes Travel Guide made the star-rating list for 2019. Amongst them, 21 hotels with five stars and 49 hotels four stars were new additions.
