KFC AND PIZZA HUT TO GROW DELIVERY THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH FOODPANDA

August 23, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands), the region’s largest quick service restaurant operator, with over 1,080 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Malaysia, today announced its partnership with foodpanda, the country’s leading on-demand delivery service provider.

The partnership aligns with QSR Brands’ customer-centric strategy to create greater service accessibility for its customers to be able to enjoy offerings from KFC and Pizza Hut easier while driving profitable growth for both brands as well as foodpanda. Currently there are over 320 KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in Malaysia offering delivery services through their own platforms.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was formalised with a document exchange between Merrill Pereyra, CEO of Restaurant Division, QSR Brands and Sayantan Das, Managing Director, foodpanda Malaysia, and in the presence of Yang Berhormat Dato’ Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim, Chairman of QSR Brands, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil, Managing Director, QSR Brands, and Jakob Angele, Chief Executive Officer of foodpanda Asia Pacific.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil said that the initiative with foodpanda will complement existing delivery services by KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants and is expected to grow the number of delivery outlets for both KFC and Pizza Hut to about 480 by end of 2018 and to an estimated 730 by the end of 2019.

“This partnership with foodpanda is a progressive step towards expanding our reach by growing our delivery services across our two main quick service restaurants brands, KFC and Pizza Hut. This will provide a new revenue stream by serving not only our non-delivery outlets but also complement existing delivery outlets. KFC and Pizza Hut are household favourites in Malaysia and we strive to ensure that our customers always have a satisfying experience when they chose to dine with us, be it via in-store dining, take-out or delivery to their doorstep,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Kamaruzzaman stated that the strategic partnership is a great practice that is very much alive in the diversified Johor Corporation Group. “This will strengthen QSR Brands’ leadership position even further. Such partnerships provide the group with an edge over its competitors, allowing it to expand its presence by leveraging on its partners’ network.”

QSR Brands will play an encompassing role to assure all foodpanda halal food delivery service will be certified end-to-end in the near future from the point of pick-up to the drop-off at the consumer’s doorstep.

“Beyond that, we are proud to be able to contribute to foodpanda’s halal credentials by sharing our best practices and expertise to provide customers a greater selection of halal food outlets for delivery. QSR Brands is a trusted name in providing a consummate halal assurance to all our customers,” Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari added.

Customers can place their delivery orders via multiple channels across KFC, Pizza Hut and foodpanda platforms, giving them the flexibility to enjoy KFC’s and Pizza Hut’s delicious offerings anytime, anywhere with just a few clicks.

“Food delivery services have grown exponentially in Malaysia over the past 6 years and foodpanda has contributed to that growth. We are proud to add two of the biggest names in quick service restaurants in Malaysia, KFC and Pizza Hut, to our stable of over 1,900 restaurants and we hope to contribute to the growth in KFC’s and Pizza Hut’s delivery business,” Sayantan Das, Managing Director, foodpanda Malaysia said.

“foodpanda’s commitment to halal delivery services has been a cornerstone of our success to date and with QSR Brands as our partner, we can only grow to better serve our 5 million registered users for their halal food needs through our delivery fleet of over 1,200 riders,” Das added.

foodpanda’s delivery services for KFC and Pizza Hut will be rolled out in stages beginning September 2018 in the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and Penang. The service will also offer customers 24-hour deliveries from selected KFC stores.
