Iconic Indonesian Band Impresses Music Lovers at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali

July 13, 2018 By StrawberrY Gal - Event Leave a Comment

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali opened its doors to more than 1,000 music lovers on Friday, 6th July 2018 for a concert by legendary Indonesian band Kahitna. As promised, it was an uplifting evening of easy listening tunes and romantic ballads with the group performing many chart-topping hits from its more than 30-year career.

The opening act was none other than 2018 Indonesian Idol, Maria Simorangkir, who has her own distinct following and is currently inspiring a generation of young fans. At just 16 years of age, this soulful singer wowed the audience with a set of six songs that highlighted her powerful vocal range.

After a brief intermission, Kahitna then commanded the stage in the Mangupura Ballroom with a collection of love songs fused with upbeat tempos. The band brought back many memories with classic songs like Cerita Cinta and Soulmate. As skilled musicians, they even managed to inject some versatile sounds with elements of jazz, pop, Latin and traditional music.

The concert was staged in conjunction with the full support from Maybank as part of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali’s ongoing commitment to bring creative events to the island. It was the first large-scale musical production of its kind to be staged at the grandeur of Mangupura Hall, Bali International Convention Centre at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. The overwhelming response means that people can look forward to more live shows like this in the future.

“I am delighted that so many local music lovers turned out and I must give credit to all of the associates who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it such a success. The tickets were all sold out before the day of the event. I’m impressed to see the entire audience enjoy all songs performed by Kahitna during evening, it was great to see all happy faces at the end of the show” says Mr. Oriol Montal, General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.

This event was made possible by generous support from Maybank as well as few other sponsors; Focus Productions, Garuda Indonesia, PT Mandira Abadi, Telkom Indonesia, Two Islands and media partners include HardRockFM Bali, What’s New Bali and What’s New Jakarta as well as InfoDenpasar.
