SOU x Azumino Ikeda @ SOU Omakase Dining, The Gardens

January 12, 2018 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review, Invited Review Leave a Comment

Being one of the popular outlets in Klang Valley, SOU Omakase Dining is one of the MUST visit outlet if you are fans of Japanese Omakase meals. For those who are not aware Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means “I’ll leave it to you” This expression is usually used in Japanese restaurants to leave your selection to the chef and this is where the chef will present to you a series of dishes beginning with the lightest fare and proceeding to the heaviest and riches dishes.
And this month SOU Omakase Dining is collaborating with the Aumino Ikeda  from Nagano in Japan. This is where they will present a series of omakase delights at SOU Omakase Dining from January 9th until food stuck runs out.
For those who are not aware Ikeda Town is located in the north/western area of Nagano Prefecture and this area is famed for their rich agriculture heritage and they are well known as one of the leading rice producing area in Japan. Ikeda  is also the home to two sake (rice wine and breweries). Not just famed for agriculture, they are also a well known tourist destination. Ikeda down is also known for its spring flower and cherry blossoms, and visitor can enjoy the town all year round regardless of summer, autumn or even winter.
We started of our meal with the welcome delights which is the Amazake Jelly made from the Sake Komekoji, Chia seeds and yuzu. Sides with the umezuke. It is simply appetizing.
Sakizuke which is the new year mix appetiser “Osechi” Platter where the set completes with the Datemaki ( Japanese Sweet Rolled Omelette) , Kazunoko (HerringRoe),  Kamaboko ( Fish Cake), Kuro –Mame ( Black Soybeans) and Ebi ( prawns). The set is available till 15 Januay 2018 and Chef will create another special appetizer for this Azumino Ikeda set lunch.
Moving next is the lunch course. The lunch course which is available for limited time only. The course comes with salmon soup, tempura, sashimi with ikura, braised daikon with Gin No Miso , grilled cod, and steamed rice.
We also being served with the soba and udon, together with the dipping sauce and sides with the dried seaweeds and scallions.
We ends our delicious meals with their Sake – Kasu pudding. Enjoy the mildly sweet pudding with kiwanomi ( mulberry fruit) toppings and served with the apple sherbet. Simply refreshing!
The “SOU AZUMINO IKEDA” menu is complimented with Special “KITA-ALPS” Daiginjyou sake and Special gift “MIZUHIKI” art craft pin or key-chain. It is such a beautiful decoration and it is one of the traditional handcraft that symbolises good luck. These beautiful souvenir is made by Aya Nomura and for more information, checkout her website.
